No fall action????

I look around and i see very mixed results, some posters are catching lots some, like me, none at all. I Thought it might be New jersey but njfishinguy cought a nice lunker recently. Whats everyones impression of this falls fishing?? and no posters like LBH or fishchris who could probly pull a lunker out of a rain puddle ;D Just jokin

You may need to make adjustments in both location and lures. Although I'm still catching a few bass on soft plastics and jigs, I am having much better luck on "minnow" type lures. This is the best time of year for jerkbaits and Rat-L-Traps like baits.

Syfer420, what is your water temperatures in the lakes you're fishing in New Jersey?  I'll bet most of your problems are the locations you're choosing to fish in your lakes.  While the fall can pull some fish up into feeder creeks and shallow flats to feed, when the water temps drop into the 50s a good solid cold front can push fish back onto channel ledges, and even send some scurrying closer to winter homes.  Those that stay in shallow water will be holding very tightly to cover.  I've had a couple of bad days in the last two weeks under these circumstances, where I stayed on the feeder creek pattern too long when I should have moved out to the channel ledges and secondary/main lake points near deeper water.

At this time of the year I do well on  spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. Soft plastic fishing has been way 2 slow for me.

maybe the soft plastics are my problem thats what i mainly fish, and i also almost never get to anywhere but the local ponds. I also threw my chart booyah spinner maybe ill get a rat-l trap like RW said

I have found pond fishing to be brutal around this time of year and I am in a little slump myself. Go with what RW said and get some cranks or rat-l-traps out and you gotta just cover water and hope those fish are hungry. I am not really having luck on either of the two at the ponds, soft plastics or jerks and cranks. However out on the larger lakes I am doing well with the cranks and jerks presentations in the mouths of the creeks and rock and grass flats. It could just be a small water, cold weather thing?

kbkindle     in my home lakes   and i guess all lakes    i have been doing real good with crankbaits  i look for shallow water  next to deep water they  seem to stack up on these flats   when i say shallow to deep here it is like 3 ft to 10ft   you can see on graft they are on the side of hill me i cast to shallow and bring up crankalong the hump.  kb  with a crank i use a stop ,jerk,jerk  wind , stop  etc have been getting a lot of hits on the stop  kb   and boy are they fat  like me :-?

i absolutly agree im gonna try bigger lakes where water temps are higher than small ponds because i just got back and threw everyhing i had for abosolutly no bites

yeah i was having problems too and was trying many soft baits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and some jerkbaits but should try more

I got a new soulution, move to florida!! well hopefully ill be moving to west palm beach and west palm dood will show me where the hawgs are. I was born there, and its been calling me back

Are you anti-live bait?  Many anglers, even the die hard ones, often give live bait a try this time of year.

We went out yesterday to make a video.  "Shiner fishing" has been an active topic on the board so we spent the last 2 days taking footage of how to rig, how to play the bait, etc.

Give 'em a try if they aren't a "no-no" to you personally.  Just for the record, there are 2 ,..7 lb fish coming in the next video.

If the fishing has slowed to a trickle, I highly recommend a day of shiner fishing to turn those fall/winter frowns into some ear to ear smiles.

Well up here in New Hampshire fishing has slowed to a crawl. The water temps are in the 45°F area. Snow yes SNOW was seen falling far north from me, flurries are in the forecast for my area this week. What has got me the most bites was deadsticking do nothing plastics. I did get some action on a reaction type lure. I am fearing I am quickly approaching lake turnover time. Any pointers for when a lake goes through turnover?

I'm in a slump too.  This is really my first fall fishing for bass and I was expecting some better action  :-[  I also fish mostly small ponds and water temps are in the 50s I guess.  Last weekend I caught a few, including one nice fat one (for this particular pond), on wacky rigged senkos.  BUT, the bite was very light.  I never felt a thing.  Just saw the line move a tick, set the hook, and there were the fish.

They were going crazy for the buzzbait on the small ponds near me up until about 3 days ago.  Switched to a large jointed rapala painted like a chain pickeral and have had some luck.  Blowing up on the shiners too, if you use em.  Soft plastics have been slowing down a lot for me but ive been seeing guys pull in decent weight with som small jigs.  I got a couple swimbaits on order too and im looking forward to seeing how those work out.

I would say to pitch and flip spinnerbaits around stickout brush. also I would cast a spinnerbait behind a

tree and give it a medium retrieve; and don't be afraid to bang the lure of the trees or brush.

The last trip I went on...granted it was a decent stretch ago...the weather patterns around here were much the same as they are now. I did alright catching 3 fish on minnow type baits...namely Smithwick Suspending Pro Rogues. I was fishing them close to wood that was at about a 45 degree angle in the water and was on top of chunk rock.
