Siebert Outdoors Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I'm going to get another magazine subscription and wondering what you guys prefer. A guy at work has bassmasters and I read those but I dont perticularly like them. To many adds and I havent found any real good info in them yet. I use to get In Fisherman and this is the way I am leaning. I like it because it is multi species and they seem to be very knowledgable. What do you guys prefer? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 13, 2006 Super User Posted December 13, 2006 I like In-Fisherman and Gary Yamamoto's Inside Line. Quote
justfishin Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I like the In-Fisherman and Bassin is pretty good as well. I think as far as knowledge, the brothers at In Fisherman are the elite nowadays. Those guys have put together years of experiance and knowledge. Not generic articles but, time on the water articles. The real stuff. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 I like the In-Fisherman and Bassin is pretty good as well. I think as far as knowledge, the brothers at In Fisherman are the elite nowadays. Those guys have put together years of experiance and knowledge. Not generic articles but, time on the water articles. The real stuff. Thats what I had noticed some of the others seem written by lesser skilled anglers. I could probably write some articles for a few mags I have seen. I will check out bassin, GY never seen one. But I'm thinking Infisherman is where its going to be at. I think the reason I'm having a hard time deciding is I dont like to read corperate articles Quote
Topwater_Popper Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I like In-Fisherman, but my favorite is Field and Stream. Field and Stream has good fishing tips in the spring and summer, and excellent hunting tips in the winter, especially for deer. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted December 13, 2006 Super User Posted December 13, 2006 I think you're on the right track GMAN. I like Bassin' and everything I've seen from In-Fisherman is good. I have not subscribed to In-Fisherman because it is multi-species but I'm leaning more and more toward doing so. I read BassMaster and have enjoyed a few articles here and there, but it does leave much to be desired. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 The fishing magazines that I really like are In-Fisherman and Bassmasters (which have already been mentioned) as well as Musky Hunter, Saltwater Sportsman, and Fly Fisherman. The latter three magazines are very good if you are interested in either of thier topics. Quote
jdw174 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Any articles on bass fishing in In-Fisherman written by Steve Quinn will be more than worth your read. He really gets in-depth on any technique. Their annual Bass Fishing Guide is a must buy for me. You might be interested in the FLW Outdoors Magazine (bass edition). I'm beginning to prefer it a bit over BassMaster. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I subscribe to Bassmaster mag,Bass Times, and Bassin.I like all three.Bassin is probably the best of the three, but the other two are very good mags.Contrary to what I've read,Bassmaster has some good how to articles, and I like to keep up with the Bass tours. As for ads, there are ads in all of the bassing mags. They'd have to go out of business if they couldn't run ads. Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 14, 2006 Super User Posted December 14, 2006 RATTLINROGUE IS RIGHT. MY WIFE WORKS FOR AN ADVERTISING AGENCY, AND SHE SAYS WITHOUT ALL THOSE ADS THE MAGAZINE DOSEN'T GET PRINTED. BACK TO THE SUBJECT. I LIKE BASSMASTERS AND BASSIN. I LIKE THE DAY ON THE LAKE ARTICLES AND THE TOURNAMENT COVERAGE. FALCON Quote
CrazedL.IFisherman Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I used to suscribe to bassmaster which has turned to all ads, its a decent magazine in my opinion, bassin was truely a better bass mag the last i heard Quote
BASS fisherman Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I like In-fisherman, and Bassin' as well. If anyone is looking to subscribe to In-fisherman, they do a thing online and you can get a year subscription for $12.00. Quote
ga_hawghauler Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 bassin and bassmaster magazines Quote
Craw Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 In-fisherman is always a great read. A must have! I still enjoy reading Bassmaster but you get to read it for free so you have that covered. FLW's magazine can be devoured in about 10min. while it's still on the rack so I wouldn't get a subscription. GY's Inside Line has some of it's articles featured online. Browse a few of the articles and see what you think. http://***/insideline/index.html I enjoy Bassin as well. Any of the magazines will have a little something to offer but I feel that In-fisherman is far and away the best. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 14, 2006 Author Posted December 14, 2006 I understand the advertising and business. I just think there is a point that it becomes obserd. I guess its more of the focus on all the tourney fishing that I dont care about. I like fishing facts more then who is whinning what. I just signed up for In-fisherman for 2 years cost 20 bucks. Cant beat that. Here are a couple I might still sign up for on you guys rec. I've never seen any of these except bassin. That was awhile ago. Bassin Inside Line (GY) FLW. Thanks guys Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 15, 2006 Super User Posted December 15, 2006 As much as western influence of techniques has been discussed weekly on this forum, I'm very surprised that no one suggests BassWest. Great big bass bait tips and all those finesse techniques that are so popular. Two of the best sources going Bass West and Inside Line/ Matt. Quote
kbkindle Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 kb here i enjoy "bassin" the most also like" bass times" bassmaster is all adv. i think i get more info out of bass times than bassmasters. i guess if you are a big time tourney man it would be ok just like the flw mag.kb Quote
Super User RoLo Posted December 16, 2006 Super User Posted December 16, 2006 If you're interested in a mult-species magazine (who isn't) go for In-Fisherman or Fishing Facts. Most of the others don't hold a candle to them. Roger Quote
