Infidel. Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 At Diamond Valley Lake in Southern California I have caught bass on Carolina rigs in 45+ feet and I have pulled spoon fish up off the bottom from 60+ feet. A needle is essential during these times to ensure the bass survive. Last month a buddy of mine caught a Bass that was 80 feet down at a lake in Ventura county. I know that bass love shallow cover but as long as there is food and oxygen, I think they will go anywhere in a lake. Quote
FIN-S-R Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Had lots of success this and last summer for smallies, LMB and spots from 30 -70 ft. Caught 1 very nice LMB @ approx. 80 ft. Quote
BassKing813 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 The deepest I've ever fished is 20ft. Of course, I live in Florida where all of the lakes are shallow and fertile and pretty much stay the same depth everywhere. Quote
tbirdbassr Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I have caught lm and sm in 45 ' of water but i prefer fishing 5' or less I like being sneaky lol Quote
orey10m Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I caught a LMB at 40ft throwing a popper. The deepest I have fished though is 70 feet or so at lanier spooning. Quote
justfishin Posted December 9, 2006 Author Posted December 9, 2006 I am right with you ghoti. The ranges you mention for brown and green bass are about my deepest as well. I talked to my friend since and he said that the "statement was made" about that " 200 " foot mark. He said most of their fish came anywhere from 30-125 foot range on jigging spoons, tubes with 1/2oz leadheads and dropshots. He said spoons did the best for them at the time. I did find a sunken island on a local lake years ago that tops out at about 55' and the surrounding water is around 75-85'. I have seen a ton of boats go by that spot and I have had some great days there. I found it on an old topo map and relocated it on my depth finder and waypointed it. My little fish market I call it. justfishin Posted December 9, 2006 Author Posted December 9, 2006 Sorry RoLo, I should have been more specific. I was talking brown bass mainly. Quote
