The trick is saying outloud, "This is my last cast."

The fish think you're gone and that's when you come up with "Just one more cast."

Last year I was fishing a local tournament with a guy and we stumbled into a whole heard of bass.  We were getting bit on almost every cast after having a real slow start to the day.  We both had good limits and the check-in time was fast approaching.  He said, "let's make one more cast, but don't catch a big one 'cause we don't have time to land it".  I made my cast and hauled water, he was on his retrieve when he stuck a 19.5" er.  I was firing up the boat while he was still landing the bass.  We laughed about that for the rest of the year.

I can't tell you how many times I have said " Just one more cast " and I suddenly caught one or two and I end up staying another hour or so. My partner and I won a tournament on Deep Creek Lake in Maryland like that. We were almost to the dock and had about 90 seconds and my partner said " one more " and caught a big fat ol' smallie. It was enough to cull one and  put us over the edge by 2oz and we won. That is one of those days you remember. Of course I also had to listen to that story from him for the next two years, lol, but he earned it!

I've told a fishing partner more times than you'd think "let's make one more cast and leave" ,then one of us catch a bass.Needless to say, that extra bass was good for another hour of fishing.

Yes. Of course it may be because I just keep saying it until I catch something.  ;D

I've done that a bazillion times. I didn't know if that counted.  ;):D

ACTUALLY, MY LAST CAST OF THE SEASON I BOATED A 42" MUSKIE. IT CERTAINLY WASN'T WHAT I WAS FISHING FOR BUT MY SEASON WENT OUT WITH A BIG BANG.

Posted

I went out two mornings ago before work. I was fishhing for 2 1/2 hours and not one single bite. I knew I had to leave at exactly 12:30 to be in work on time. At exactly 12:30 I said " this is my last cast ". I was fishing a GYCB swim senko...pumpkin seed. I was fishing it super slow up until it got about 10 feet from me and I started to bring it in fast because obviously I was skunked...than WHAM!! My heart dropped...it felt like a nice three or four pounder. But when I saw the flash and noticed the fish was about two feet long I knew it wasnt a bass. It was my first northern pike. He was about three pounds and fiesty as heck. Nice way to end the trip.
