Craw Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Muddy-visibility from 0-1' Stained-1'-4' Clear-4' and deeper Quote
Fishin49er Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I have one of KVD's spinnerbait videos and in this video he mentions this exact thing, but he divides it like this: clear is anything past 18", 18" to 6" is stained and muddy is anything less then 6". To me this seemed awful shallow, i thought it was more around what Craw said. But hey im not the professsional. Not to jack a thread but what do yall think about those numbers? Quote
Peter E. Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I am a down right Souterner and down here in LA (lower Alabama) we rarely have what you might call clear water. But I have a system that goes like this: 6" and under- Nasty! (color black and something, duh!)(oh and noisey baits!) 6" to 12" -Gumbo (something with chartrues)(a little noise is still good) 12" to 18"- Stained (I like water mellon red)(noise optional) 18" and deeper clear as a bell! (oooh real natural or off the wall)(hush I'm fishing!!!) Quote
MBeery Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Out here in AZ it goes like this: 0' - 3' = Muddy 3' - 10' = Stained 10' - 35' = Clear Not a lot of Muddy water to be found around here. On some lakes you can d-shot in 20' - 35' feet of water and still see your bait. It is great for bedding bass, yet it is a real pain quite a bit of the time. You have to try and make sure you always have the sun at your back to maximize your efforts. Quote
dizzy5868 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 On the river I fish I use this to help me find the fish. When I launch my boat I trim my outboard down all the way and then look over the back of the boat at my prop. Muddy- I can't see the prop heavy stain--- I can just make it out Stained---- I can see the prop but no further Light stain---- I can see past the prop but not the bottom in 3' of water Clear ------ I can see the rocks on the bottom in 3' of water The water never gets gin clear around here so I think this is good spread. Peter E. Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 OOHh much have we to learn, hum, life is a matter of perspectives, yes. Spme see the glass as half full some as half empty. When in truth it just depends on if your pouring it or having it poured. Quote
