My favorite time of the day.............

I'm a morning person by nature.  If I'm going fishing I will be on the water when the sun has yet to come over the treetops but the sky is light at dawn.  A slight mist on the water.  I can see deer, raccoons, squirrels and wild turkeys at any time.  On occasion, I'll hear a bobwhite whistling somewhere along the shore.  Normally, there aren't any other boats around...yet...

At times like that, even getting bit is almost secondary to just being there.  There is no other time that is more peaceful and relaxing.  Along with that is the feeling that a real hawg is going to come out of those buckbushes and whack you at any given minute.  Life is good

It's my favorite time to be on the water as well.  I've caught some of my biggest bass on the edge of night early in the morning.

eric (Dirk) and I first met on the preload shift at UPS (4a-8a) We worked that shift for 7 yrs and our body clocks never re-set. I can be up and feel fully rested from 2am on. I don't sleep past 6am. That part can be a drag on mornings when conditions are right to just lounge in the sack all morning.

If you go back and watch some of our videos from this summer, many of our larger fish were from that 3am-sunrise period. Of course, that's because that time frame is when we are there,lol. Alot of footage was missed because of the darkness, somthing that will be addressed before spring.

But back to your point. How much does a shrink cost for 15 yrs of therapy, 4 times a week because my jon boat was only $450.

I feel fortunate to be appreciative of the fact that I am able to harness the sunrise and all that it brings.

It is also a perfect time for some quality father son or best friend moments.  Getting a kid in the boat when his eyes are 1/2 shut is somthing neither of you will forget.  Also a great time to share with your girlie if she's down with that. Get them to go once and they'll want to do it again but take special care to only try this with kids or the womenfolk when it's going to be a beautiful day.  Wet Sleet and darkness can be a drag for a newbie,lol.

I have always worked in and around the construction industry all my life and early morning is my time. I know of what you speak about being on the water when it's just light enough to see. It's sad that so few of us get to have that experience.

LBH I got another kid hooked on fishing this past summer and one of the benifits for me is, on the days when I would start to cancel my fishing plans for something dumb (like work), Nick would call me and ask "are we going tomorrow???". How can you say no to a youngster who wants to fish? LOL The young guys help me keep my priorities straight.

One of my frustrations with my favorite local lake is, that it doesn't open till 6 am and 1/4 the day is gone.

My day starts at 4 am with the exception of Sunday but I'm a night owl too.  

Watching a full moon crack the horizon, the distant hum of an outboard, the lonely cry of a whip-o-will, a pair of hoot owls talking, the smell of a fire place going out, and then to finish it all off a glorious day break.

Early morning guy here as well. I enjoy the absolute solitude it offers. Nothing like getting down on the water well before sun up for a nice full day of fishing. Seeing and hearing all the wildlife scurrying about, the fog rolling off the top of the water, with the expectations of a nice quite day of hopefully great fishing. Can't beat the morning.

I never really was a morning person growing up but after an 8-5 job and 2 puppies I have had no choice in the matter. I love being a morning person now. It's such a peaceful time of day. Nothing like having a good cup of coffee and nice cigar on a nice cool sunny morning. There's no other therapy I know of that comes close. Being on the water is even better. That's the time of day where it doesn't matter if I'm catching fish or not. The relaxation is a great way to clear the mind. Of course I never complain when I do catch fish.

One of my most memorable moments was about 10 yrs. ago.  It was middle of September.  I was sitting on the shore of Yellowstone Lake, waiting for it to get light, so I could go wake up my brother and go hiking.  The sun started to come over the mtn. tops, the elk were bugling in the background, fish were jumping in front of me, and not one human sound could be heard.  It was like God, sent me a little picture of heaven to start the day....  that is why I love early mornings, especially if  am gonna be in the outdoors.  You get to see and hear things, that disappear when the daily rush starts.

The crack of dawn is a beautiful time of day and you will see me on the water as the sun comes up.  I almost always fish early when going with a partner.

But my favorite time to fish is at the end of the day. When I'm fishing alone I typically launch about 5 hours before sunset.  Fish the afternoon with worms, jigs, crankbaits, etc.  but as the shadows get longer, out come the topwaters.  I'm usually on the water till almost dark, and home by "dark thirty".  

I'll stay out later, and fish all night as well, but my routine is usually sunset, rather than sunrise.

My favorite time of day but i am definitely not a morning person an more mostly because i stay up to late to get up in the morning, for some reason i really don't like going to bed early.

I dearly love the early mornings, especially on the water.

There is nothing like watching the sun come up regardless of whether you are fishing, hunting, camping, etc.

When I was a kid everyone in my family like to fish the evenings and at night. Whenever I had a chance to fish early morning I was in heaven. The same holds true today.

That is one of the reasons I love the morning. That is a pic I took yesterday morning when I got to the fishin' hole. Sun is coming up over the horizon, the soft light reflecting off the mirror water as it outlines the trees, not a noise except the wildlife and a blip or two on top of the water, and nothing but great expectations and anticipation of a full day of fishing. That was exactly what yesterday morning was.
