Okieracer Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I was really interested in getting one of these until I went to my local BPS and saw them in person. They look a little cheap and the hooks are very small. I might get one if I could put bigger hooks on it and not adversely affect the swimming action but still I dunno if it justifies the $20 price tag. Anyone try swapping out hooks? And anyone have any info that might sway my opinion? Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted February 10, 2009 Super User Posted February 10, 2009 The bait is absolutely tiny.I cant see needing the hooks any bigger. Its a crappie lure : I can't justify a 20 dollar price tag except that the swimming action is truly exceptional.Bigger hooks might throw it of balance. KevO Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 It sure does swim well but it is very small. I put one next to a spro BBZ-1 4" and it looked like it could eat the the tru-life. A bigger hook may throw it out of whack too. Quote
tritz18 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I think the amazing action will make up for the size, plus I fish up north so that's about the size of the baitfish. so it works for me ;D Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 11, 2009 Super User Posted February 11, 2009 The size is one of the selling points for me....around here in KY it's a good day with 3 fish over the size limit....and some lakes are almost impossible to catch fish that size consistently. These baits are small which makes them better suited for my local waters. Quote
etommy28 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 even in florida I dont have a problem witht he size, some of the biggest fish ive ever caught have come on small crankbaits. but the slow sinker don stay down which is a little frustrating. Quote
NHfroggin Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I just bought one of the tru-life baits, although i have not used it yet i have seen the action of it and it looks very real. here is a link, it shows the action of it http://www.***.com/icast08.html?ccode=TRUISH if its to small i think they also have a 7,8, and 9" models. fishintroop Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I was surprised at the size also. We're still iced in, but I'm hoping that it is everything that all the rave is about. Quote
