What is the story behind these? I have heard they are lucky craft designed, actual lucky crafts but under a different brand name, and much more. Anyone know the real story behind theses lures? I love them.

Someone makes them for Academy.  The big rumor seems to be Lucky Craft.  I kind of doubt it.  I think they are a great cheap bait so everyone that fishes them wants it to be made by Lucky Craft.  They are great baits though.  Hands down the best value out there.  I love their square bill cranks.

Great baits...it proves you can make a quality bait for $3.99.  Sharp VMC 2x hooks...good paint...great action.  They are made in China, and Lucky Crafts are made in Japan, but that is why we are able to buy them for $3.99.  I feel sorry for people that don't live near an academy!

Yeah the midsized square billed crankbaits are amazing. These lures also have some great colors although not that great of a selection.  They did come out with some new baits for '09 though. A popper, lipless bait and a several new crankbaits.

You can compare them to each and they are very close to the L.C. Best value for the money I know of. Never had one not run true yet. Good paint and sharp hooks. I'm lucky to have two within 20 miles either direction and a Bass Pro. ;D

I can't believe we don't have one in the Atlanta area. ;)

Another vote for me.  They work great around my neck of the woods, and are reasonably priced. Academy has sales from time to time as well, which makes it even more appealing.
