Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 29, 2006 Super User Posted October 29, 2006 Here's Doghouse holding my smallest. I caught it on a peice of Vienna Sausage. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted October 29, 2006 Super User Posted October 29, 2006 I've caught smaller but my only fish today was only around 4-5 inches. Got the back treble stuck in his mouth. I barely knew he was on. Quote
CJ Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 My smallest bass was caught when I was eight years old I caught about a 2 1/2 inch bass on a rooster tail at a pond my Dad and I fished alot.Keep in mind I was only eight,so I told Dad the little bass looked like good bait.I fixed a hook and bobber up and threw it out in the middle of the pond. That little bass didn't last no time and I was hooked up with my longest standing PB at 4 1/2 lbs. That fish was my PB for over 15 years. Quote
Hightekrednek Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 about 2 inches, I was five or six, and I rigged up a single egg hook with a tiny piece of worm and a bobber right under a dock. Last year I caught a 3 incher on a huge shad-rap. The rapala was twice as long as he was! I wonder what he was thinking. :-? Quote
Super User RoLo Posted October 30, 2006 Super User Posted October 30, 2006 Smallmouth bass are real scrappers! How long did it take to subdue him? :-/ :-? Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Dont you guys see my outtings posts, they are all small. LOL ;D I dont have a pic but to estimate my smallest would be about 3-4" also. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 30, 2006 Super User Posted October 30, 2006 Well, the smallest bass I ever hooked would be a world record, but, d&*$, if it didn't shake its mighty head and throw the hook at the boat. I'm still seeking to beat my personal best in this category. : Quote
Pond-Pro Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 About 2 inches (seriously). I was using my smallest hook fishing for bluegill. This bass bit and i jerked it out of the water. The fish flew off the hook and went behind me. It was so small I didnt even really hook it. Then I released it to grow bigger. Quote
basspro48 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Mine was about a 2" spotted bass, it somehow managed to fit the 3/0 Gamakatsu hook in its skinny little mouth. Quote
BassKing813 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Mine is a 1in minnow that I caught on a Bomber 6A crankbait. The funniest part was that it wasn't even hooked. It somehow got stuck in between the treble hooks. I didn't take a pic because I only consider 2in minnows to be lunker size. Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 haha this is my kinda post! my PB smallest was about 4inches. i know, cuz it was about an inch shorter than the 5' Senko i caught it on. wish the hawgs were that fiesty. :'( Quote
Lightninrod Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 This isn't the smallest but it was the most enjoyable catch. The little one grabbed the Zoom worm and flailed about on top when all of a sudden, the bigger Bass grabbed the little one. I lucked out in that the Sugoi EWG hook stuck the big one after going thru the little one's gills. 8-) Dan Quote
Poor Richard Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 We often get bass just under 2" when bluegill fishing. Also, we release lots of fiesty ones that are just shorter than the Rapala they've bitten. There is a moral here: if bass grew as big as grouper, you couldn't go swimming in your home pond! The tiny percentage of bass that make it to adulthood, let alone lunkerhood, must know that their first rule is to attack, eat, fight fight fight. A really angry 8" bass is a model of aggressive toughness. What a fish. No wonder we love 'em. Quote
Bream Master Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 My smallest bass was about the size of a bass minnow. Maybe a couple of mm longer and slightly with more girth. I caught him in running water beside a dam fishing for bream to use as bait for strippers. Quote
CK14 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 i caught (snagged really) about a 2" smallmouth with a drop shot. Quote
mudcatwilly Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I caught a 2-inch LMB on a cast master. I tried to throw it back before anyone saw me Quote
BassBuster22 Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Last week I caught a little 4 incher on a Heddon Topwater. Quote
