well my first favorite lure was actually soft plastics made my bass assasin and they were just little flukes. I loved those things and caught so many fish on them. 12 has been my number for my whole life. From rec sports, school sports, JV basketball, everything... I always make sure I get 12 . My avatar is from one of my favorite fishing days this summer when my friend caught his PB of 6.8 and I caught 2 4.5's and a bunch of other good fish. I miss the summer time memories, that pic always reminds me of them.

Mine has absolutely nothing to do with fishing.  

Back around 1997 I was inhabiting a couple Open wheel racing forums.  I needed an email to join up to one of those forums so I went to hotmail (it was brand new at the time) and registered under cart6, the cart part standing for Championship Auto Racing Teams and six for my driver of choice at the time, Michael Andretti.  Unfortunately cart6 was taken so I got really creative and chose cart7  :

Anyway, I've posted under that handle for 9 years now on several racing forums like offcamber.net and Howard Dolans racing forum.  I also use cart7 at 2 other bass fishing forums I post on besides here.

Back in 2001, I decided to buy a F150 Lightning. At the time, I was(still am) member of F150online and racked my feeble brain for a "Lightning" related name and came up with Lightninrod.  Kept it for all the forums I post on;  Bassin', Lightnings, cats, and colognes.

one of the stock answers we had when somene questioned our techniques was, "we are Just Trying........"  and, that became my board name.  most people, however, shortened it to "JT."

when i found this site, i just automattically logged on as "justtrying."

Thats so weird. My spanish teacher is obsessed with lanuages and stuff and showed us that same thing one time. She knows a couple languages and thinks its dumb how we spell things in english.

NOW MY NAME... It might seem like a love for a baseball team, but it is more like a love for a brother. When I was about 7, My older brother "brainwashed" me into being a Yankees baseball fan. (that really bothered my oldest brother who was a Dodger fan) so it was US against him.

At any rate, the brother that "turned" me on to the Yankees (and ate, slept, and s#!t Yankees) wound up in a motorcycle accident at age 18 (I was 13 at the time). So 25 years later I STILL carry "his" flag for the Yankees. I guess it helps me to carry on.

I can only figure, in our eyes, the Yankees will always Win. There is no bond like a brothers bond.

when my wife and i got out first email address we had to think of a name.  my knickname is matty and i call her jo (middle name is josephine).  hence jomatty.  when i started signing up for poker accounts i used that name (before i got serious about the game and realized i might not want the same name on all my accounts).

when i signed up for this forumn it was very much spur of the moment.  i had visited it many times but only to read articles.  i checked out the forumn and wanted to reply to something and when i did was not about to spend the time to come up with something clever, so jomatty it was.  

when i meet poker players who know me from online they always think my name is joe.  anyhow there is the all too boring tale of my name

We were camping this summer and I came out of the tent in the cool morning air and flipped up the hood of my sweatshirt on my head. My friend that I was camping with said "Hey its the unabomber" (There is a professional poker player named Phil Laak that goes by the nickname the_unabomber).

I said "I'm not the unabomber, I'm The Unabasser"

As you can see in my avatar I fish out of my inflatable pontoon boat which holds only one person and I fish for Bass...

There ya have it...now you've heard the rest of the story

The first fishing reel I ever had was a Zebco 202. As a matter of fact I had two of those reels as a child and I still have both of them. Only one of them works.

This was also the first fishing website that I have ever been apart of so I decided to use the old 202 as my moniker.

I've always thought you have the best screen name on the site, and that's because I spent so many days with a Zebco 202 "ZeeBee" as a boy. I will never love another reel as much as I did that one. I'm in my mid-50s now, and even though I sometimes confuse the names of people I love, I still remember the exact feel of unscrewing the front of that reel to clean out all the sand I used to somehow get in there. I wish I had done what you did, and kept that reel.

I actually use to take side bets with my friends on whod catch the 1st Bass, or weigh a certain weight, and id always get lucky I guess and get em first. Now they wont do side bets with me when I ask they just say game over. The name was born..

I fish so much that a lot of my buddies were calling me a fishin freak. Well I like bass fishing the most so I went with bassinfreak2. I tried several combinations of Bass and Freak and this was the 1st one that was not taken. I chose my avitar because it's what I have pictured in my head and someone had already had the picture ready to use.
