I was visiting my Grand parents in Conroe last weekend and got to go fishing on Lake Conroe. It was raining lightly and I was fishing the bank with a lot of reeds, in about 2-3 feet of water. I was using a Heddon Spittin Image (Top water) and a 11 in. 14 oz. Crappie hit it!!! I didn't know Crappie would bite Topwaters. Just thought i'd share that.

I think they will hit just about anything a bass will.

there is a spot on my home lake where I have just as much chance of getting hit by a nice crappie as I do a bass on a 1/2 oz. rattletrap

Fishing a tournament this year I was throwing a crank bait along an old fence row and snagged a crappie -- on my next cast I had one bite the CB that was approximately 1/4" shorter than the lure (LOL).

I've caught some nice crappies with crankbaits fishing deep water structure during the summer months. Caught some of my best bass and crappie that way preferrably a light brown/ orange crawdad color.

Last winter my buddy and me were fishing suspending Super Rogues along steep banks and we must have caught 20 or so crappie. Then another time we were trolling small roadrunners on little UL rigs for crappie and we doubled up with bass, a 4lber. and a 2lber.
