It is getting pretty chilly here in michigan, and we have had some crazy weather. It has been in the 30's some days, and just yesterday it was 40 and had 35mph winds. It has been like this for almost the entire month. Not to mention rain almost every day. The water is almost 40 degrees, and i was wondering if that is cold enough to make the fish head out deep and find the more stable water temps or watever they do. I have only gone fishing a couple times in the last 2 months, and cant find a fish.

rocknfish,

I would be looking for deep structure if your water temps are 40 degrees.  The fish in the deeper water will be less affected by your high winds as well.  Of course, if the wind is 35 - 40 mph I'd stay off the water.

Rock,

I fished the Chiller Thriller tourney on Kent Lake on Saturday.  My god the weather sucked.  18# won it.  A combination of medium running crankbaits and jig/pigs was what brought most of the fish to the scales.  Dont discount a crankbait bite and be sure to bounce it off of anything you can find.  My partner caught 4 keepers on a trap.  I caught a nice 3# on a bandit, white with a brown back, he actually chased it to the boat and hit it about 5 feet from the boat.  All smallies.

Find the structure... the fish are still hungry and are holding over it right now.  Atleast on Kent.
