Dane Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 This should give a good understanding of what type of water most people fish. Also will be good to know who else fishes the same type of water. Mark me down for small pond! Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 30, 2006 Super User Posted September 30, 2006 This should be interesting.I'm down for a man made lake over 6,000 acres. Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I clicked the wrong one. I picked large natural but it should have been large man made Quote
Syfer420 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I couldnt funtion normally without my little pond around the corner from my house. I love the fishing, the location, and the people are great too, they rush up and tell you what a great catch it ia even when it's a dink!!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 30, 2006 Super User Posted September 30, 2006 Larger Man-Made >200,000 surface acres, 65 miles long, 2 miles wide, 1,200 miles of shore line & average depths of over 45'. Toledo Bend Reservoir Quote
BadKarma42 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Stuck with small pond with the occasional visit to a small "lake." Quote
Jall65 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Larger Man-Made 69,100 acres , 75 miles long Guntersville, Alabama Quote
skiftcky Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I just left one of the best Bass fishing spots in the country. I usually fished Kentucky and Barkley lakes on the Tennessee side. I will admit though, I will not pass up a chance to hit smaller lakes and ponds for those big fish. Now I'm fishing Tuttle Creek and Milford in Kansas Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I mainly fish a 300 acre man-made lake. Also fish a few 100+ acre lakes, and when I get a chance,I fish some small and medium ponds.I like to float a few local rivers this time of year throwing small white spinnerbaits(H & H is my favorite).Usually catch a ton of bass while floating rivers, but they're all pretty small.Lots of action, though! Quote
fishinyank Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I fish a 308 acre man made as well as a river (the ol' susquehanna) for the majority of my time on the water. I will occasionally hit a few 5-10 acre ponds and small creeks just to mix it up. I like to get to large lakes when I can, like Onieda, Cayuga, etc. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted October 1, 2006 Super User Posted October 1, 2006 I live on a 7,500-acre natural lake (Lake walk-in-water, FL). Though I probably do most of my fishing there, I also fish lakes & rivers of various sizes in numerous other locations (freshwater & saltwater). Roger Quote
basser89 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I went with a medium pond since this is where I spent most of my time so far this year fishing. I do switch up and fish a couple small man-made lakes (505 acres and smaller ones) as well as a couple rivers too in MD and PA. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 1, 2006 Super User Posted October 1, 2006 I need an "All of the Above" to click on. I fish them all. If it holds water and bass I am there. Quote
Troutfisher Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I'm a small ponds and streams person. 97% of my fishing is done in these places. Yet, even small ponds and streams can bring in fish! Stream fish http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/Zeldadude70/cd62a1af.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/Zeldadude70/f1da94d8.jpg Small pond http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/Zeldadude70/pond2.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/Zeldadude70/100_3205.jpg Quote
Fish Chris Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I couldn't really pick just one. You should have included an "all of the above option". Plus, you forgot to put a "Saltwater" and a "brackish water" option, both of which I also regularly fish....... Fish Quote
KYbass1276 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 You guys would laugh at the waters I fish but not having a boat yet I'm stuck beating the banks for my bass. I used to fish one that literaly looks like a mud puddle compared to the ones you fish. I stopped fishing it because I really didn't think it was fair to the fish I will go out and take pictures in the next day or so and post them them you will understand what I mean by not being fair to the fish. But I do have others I fish that range from 1 to 2 acres Quote
Guest avid Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 My home lake is a 125 acre man made. Virtually all of my fishing is done their with and occasional foray to larger bass waters and the brackish snook, redfish etc. intercoastal waterway. Quote
flyphisher # Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Would have to say all of the above Man-made lakes and ponds......and the rivers that lead into them when needed. Quote
fishingJ Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I fish small ponds and rivers probably about equally I do catch more fish in the ponds. I have to say I'm surprised that small ponds are in the lead. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 2, 2006 Super User Posted October 2, 2006 I usually fish 7200 acre Smithville Lake which is a man-made reservoir north of Kansas City. However, I also fish some ponds and small lakes quite often, as well as Truman Reservoir which is 55,000 acres. Smithville is the closest to my home, so I fish there the most. Quote
Keithscatch Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I now fish the Stick Marsh/Farm 13 mostly which is I believe +- 7,000 acres. It is a man made lake. I have also fished allot of natural lakes here in Florida. Most are natural and vary in sizes from a few acres to the largest lake contained entirely in the US the Big O. Though I have never fished it. So I can't count that one. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted October 2, 2006 Super User Posted October 2, 2006 Small ponds during the week, small lakes on the weekends... Quote
Captain Cali Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Both lakes I fish right now are man made. About 200 and 2300 surface acres respectively. Quote
Theresamarie1 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Wow, I'm surprised I'm in the minority here. We fish Lake Champlain which is huge compared most other choices. Lake Champlain is approximately 600 square miles (384,000 acres). :o I'm wondering if we should vist some of the smaller lakes around here. Quote
