BASS fisherman Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 I didnt get my pig today, I did get a little dink, but no pig so far. Hopefully tommarrow. I did manage to break one of my rods though. It was a piece of junk though so no big loss. I stopped on the way home and got a new Fenwick medhvy 7' for my new flippin stick. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 30, 2006 Super User Posted September 30, 2006 There are three major human element pitfalls you must overcome. 1. Lack of knowledge about big bass 2. Basic misconceptions about big bass and fishing techniques for big bass 3. The human tendency to respond to failure and frustration by over-complication rather than simplification of technique and theory. It takes a rare breed of fisherman using simple techniques to perfection to consistently catch big bass. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted September 30, 2006 Super User Posted September 30, 2006 There's already an active subject on this very matter on the front page of this board. You guys need to use the search button more often or at least look over the subjects already posted. These boards have way too many multiple posts. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 I hear you cart, but this post was put up before Matt's was. Lets try to stay on topic. Quote
flyphisher # Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Buzzbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, and 12 inch worms, especially in ponds..... Throw an big worm on a C-rig with a tungsten weight and you will learn the bottom quick. In my experience, Big bass are kinda like big gators. They like to sink into and hang around thick, nasty stuff waiting for an easy meal. If ambushing doesnt work that day, they will move outside of their lair and hunt as close to that comfort zone as possible depending on time of day, weather, time of year, etc.. Getting the big ones to bite isnt the hard part. Its getting him out of his zone sucessfully once you get the hook set, which is also tough on the big boys.Even when spawning big fish are gonna stay as close to narly, comfortable cover as possible. My 10.3 PB came out of a 100 acre public lake that is probably 50-75 yrs old, with lots of vegatation. It blasted out of a small hole in the moss and killed a black trickworm. Quote
