liquidsoap Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Dream sponser? Allready have it. 8-) As other sponsers I would like, I would say ranger, st. croix, shimano, or quantum.... As for sponsers I would not want, I would take what I could get. If Vi agra (why didnt that come out with out the space I dont know) or any other company like that told me they would pay for my tournaments but I have to have Vi agra on the side of my boat in big bold letters I would be all for it... RandySBreth Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 The worst is already here, cialis. Nothing like standing on the front deck at the weigh-in waving at the misses from the boat advertising "richard" medicine. Oh, well, just grin like smilin' Bob....... Seriously, dream sponsor, my wealthy brother-in-law. He's a doctor, his wife is too. The silent sponsor w/the big bankroll.... sounds like a cheap T.V series, " The Travelin' Bassman" like Magnum P.I. where his rich friend let's him drive the Ferrari and stay in the guest house! ;D Quote
earthworm77 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Um, the correct answer is anyone who wants to pay my way. If tampax gave me financial support to fish the big tournies and got me a nice bass boat i would wear there name. Exactly! Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 If tampax gave me financial support to fish the big tournies and got me a nice bass boat i would wear there name. I bet your boat wouldn't be red HAHA. funny yet gross Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 So for all the folks who would let anyone sponsor them,....does Marlboro count? How about the KKK? Reverend Phelps church? Planned parenthood? (will conflict with the religion of many fans) No offense intended , I just personally wouldn't play the game if the only way I could do it was with these people's money. I'm not talking about sponsors that may be embarressing..i.e. ...I'm talking about choosing sponsors that will probably cost you other sponsors and certainly some fans. When you say you would wear ANYONE's name for $,..you leave yourself wide open. If you would, that's your choice, I'm just saying that I personally wouldn't. I'm not attacking anyone. I'm just trying to express my opinion. I mean, I don't even accept free stuff from *** just so my yamamoto vs knock off opinion retains it's integrity. It's not all about the money for me. That's just somthing my parents instilled in me. Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 I am officially out of this discussion. I learned that lesson yesterday. LBH is right, there are certain sponsors that will ultimately shorten your career. Choose wisely, grasshopper.... Quote
Valascus Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Maybe I am just weird, but I don't think I would want want a sponsor...but then again I have NO professional angling aspirations. To me once you've crossed that line, it's a job...it's a job with a TON of pressure to perform day in day out. I fish to get away from life's daily stresses...i don't need some sponsor breathing down my neck cuz I am not performing up to their standards. To me, when fishing becomes work...it just ain't no fun no more. But just to entertain the though briefly...lets see...keep in mind don't have a very firm grasp of normal fishing sponsors and how this whole dealy works. Dream Sponsors: McDonalds...they are huge...tons of exposure if you played your cards right with 'em. WalMart, same as above. Lucky Craft...need I say more on that one. And just because there would be too many to list, any major bait manufacturers, major outfitting stores, major bass boat line, major trolling or outboard companies. Anybody would any of any of those things i just listed more than likely. Not so dream sponsors: I think LBH has nailed this one. Any group that has an "abrasiveness" with any group of peeps. Gotta be as PC (as much as I hate that) as possible. I don't think I would want any sponsors dealing with alcohol or smoking...just a personal preference to me. I hate smoking, but don't have anything against the ocassional drink. I would just feel like I am hawking products that young fisherman just don't need any part of and are detrimental to people general health. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Speed- I think I yanked you out of context. I'm sure you weren't implying that if the KKK were rounding up anglers, you would hop on board just because they had a check. That wasn't how deep you meant your comment to go, I'm pretty sure. That IS the point I was trying to make though but I'm afraid it may seem like it got directed towards you as it was your reply that got me thinking along that line. To clarify, it wasn't. Confusion from text discussion once again. I see your point. I think what you mean is any "Industry related" sponsor, i.e "Yum, ranger, hummingbird, etc" would make a great sponsor and you would accept any one of them that offered. In other words, whether it's Triton or Ranger,...you don't care, you're in. I apologize if I'm correct. I could have been clearer. Quote
sirmo Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Man, you guys are killing me with some of these sponsors Orange County Choppers.....lol....Someone's REALLY dream'n I'll chime in with anyone who sells wild shiners. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 I already "sponsor" the products that work for me! If any of those companies paid me or gave me stuff for free, that would be great. So far I've only been able to get myself a free hat and KU_Bassmaster clued me into that! Nothing's "free" and I'm not at all interested in making any effort to actually work when I'm not "at work". If fishing were my job, that would be a whole different story. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Word! Ain't nothing free about sponsorship. Quote
justtrying Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 well, guys, here's how to get some "sponsorship" without harming your integrity. i like/love shimano reels. sooo, when i went to buy an extra set of pliers, i bought a set of shimano's best. trouble was,.,,, they were No Good! ...the needle nose ones were fine, but the cutters blades didn't touch, therefore, you couldn't cut any small diameter line with them. called shimano, explained what happened. they told me to send them in. i did. got new pliers, PLUS, very nice blue shimano hat & very nice black shimano polo shirt. so, now, i can not only fish shimano, but, also, REP RE SENT! ...cool, huh? Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 haha, awesome. I do like companies that stand behind their product and are willing to keep the customer happy. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Shimano and their hats. That customer service dept gets more bang for their buck out of a $5 hat than anything they sell. That's just plain good business. And they are consistent in their mission. I don't currently use them but sure do respect them. Quote
dink Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 LBH you are too funny! You said "Word". That is so fresh! Quote
Fish Chris Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Well, if they gave me enough money, I might wear "there name" but I would have a hard time wearing there product :-) LOL Seriously though, I LOVE all of my current sponsors. They all take great care of me, and provide (IMPO of course) the best products available. The only other dream sponsors I can think of would be like BP or Chevron !!! Oh, what the heck... how about Dodge. I'd gladly accept a full size Dodge RT10 about now :-) Peace, Fish Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Just Keeping it real. don't wanna see it get off the hizzle. 8-) lmao Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 Oil company? As far as money goes they have plenty to throw around. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 Now there is a sight I would like to see.... You quietly come upon this little cove and as you round the bend, there, in the middle of the lake pulling out LMB is none other than Snoop Dogg. Fizzle snizzle pizzling all over the place. Ya dig? Quote
Lane Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I would think that Playboy would be a dream sponsor for the men. I have yet to see a pro angler with a boat wrapped with the bunny, or photo ops with the playmates. For us women, maybe make-up companies like MAC. Free make-up sounds good to me! I also like my handguns, so Glock and S&W would be good. In fact, it would be a slick marketing move if gun companies did sponsor anglers. Quote
Murray Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 hmm what do i need...? i need an ipod. so apple computers a boat, so stratos i really like that new volvo hardtop so, volvo and i think bass pro kinda covers everything you need. and my nightmare sponsor would be...... PeTA AHHHHH! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 Lane, with your mention of handgun sponsorship, you have made my list for ladies that kick a$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2006 Super User Posted September 15, 2006 guess i cant say that, sorry. kick butt then. Quote
Lane Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 My favorite sport is Alligator hunting, that is where my 357 S&W gets most action. It is the best of both worlds, and boy do they put up a FIGHT! My 9mm Glock is my personal bodyguard! But my favorite handgun by far is my Colt 45 Texas Ranger/US Customs pistol which belonged to my great uncle. It was issued to him in 1909 when he became a Texas Ranger. More and more women are buying and learning to use guns for both personal protection and hunting. Heck, the president of the NRA is a woman. There is industry crossover with hunting and fishing, so I think that gun and ballistic companies would consider sponsorship of both sexes. Just my 02 cents. Quote
