I never actually counted mine neither but i probably will one night when my wife is asleep.

I have gone so far that i hide new lures from my wife anywhere i can!

Swimbaits: 400-500

Topwaters/Ripbaits: 75+

Buzz/chatter/Spinnerbaits: 75+

Cranks: 200+

Soft plastics: 200 lbs+

Spoons/blades: 30+

All in all... WAY too much tackle but you just never know when you're going to need it!

Step 1 is admitting you have a problem ;) so I am not going to say or count. What I can tell you is at last count I had 42 of my favorite bandit crankbait (hey, they may stop making them so I stocked up) and 27 LC pointers in my favorite color.

My situation is similar to FlyPhisher. Years ago, after my wife passed away, the bait monkey moved in. LOL  ;)

I have enough baits that no one in my family thinks to buy me any as gifts, so I just keep buying and losing them, but I gonna run out tackle any time soon.

Got a second tackle bag this Christmas and filled it up.  One tackle bag has about 25 bags of soft plastics.  My other tackle bag has probably 50 cranks and an assortment of hooks.  I am limiting the bait monkey to 2 bags (one for soft and the other for hard).

Wife doesn't understand why I catch and release.  If I go through all the trouble of buying equipment and catching the fish, why not eat it.  I eat saltwater fish but not much of fan of freshwater.  Since she doesn't understand my hobby, I don't bother telling her how many lures I have!

Well, first off, I have been getting rid of a bunch (most) of the old lures, for the last few years, so I don't really have much left from my old "bait monkey" days.

I have a handful of collectors swimbaits laying around. And few crank baits and jigs that I use for Stripers. In a nutshell, I probably have less lures than any of you guys, and whittling them down to less and less, all the time.

But now, how many lures do I have, "that I use" ?

Right now, I have about 30 Huddleston Trout, mostly #12's in regular trout pattern. And about 30 Basstrix Bluegills, in regular Bluegill pattern. That's all I need. I'll get me some more when these start to run low :-)

I've got a lot of baits that I bought for those situations I think I might need them for one day.

I've got far fewer that I actually use on the water.

Every few years I toss out those baits I thought I should keep around just in case.

unfortunately, I usually wind up turning around and re-purchasing more baits for the just in case situations.

About 10.

I used to have a boat load, common sense finally caught up with me, now I stock up much like FC.

I buy bulk of what gets used.  That would be soft plastics, but as for lures, my partner has a good collection of cranks, other than that, I have my topwaters and a few swimbaits so I'm sticking with the number 10.

I have 7 3700's in one rack in the boat, 5 in another compartment.  I also have a spinnerbait box in another.  I have several boxes full of lures I don't use at all, and another box full of lures still in the wrap.  All told, this is about 5 times what I need. ;)
