Super User Marty Posted September 17, 2006 Super User Posted September 17, 2006 You don't say whether you're fishing from boat or shore, but either way, I suspect the problem is something more than just choice of lures. Have you been there at the higher percentage times, like low light periods? If not, try it. Otherwise, if you're confident that there's a good bass population, hang in there and keep at it, often things get much better in October and November. Quote
pondhopper Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Finicky pond? Yeah, I know the feeling :-/. Quote
Matt Jungblut Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 yes same here i have a pond i fished alot been there the last 2 times and havnt even got a bite and i used to pull atleast 5-10 out a trip but here in iowa we had a cold spell and alot of rain so i plan on hittin it again soon once we get back to normal weather Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 How big is the pond? How deep do you think it might be? Most of what I fish is pond and its been a little slow lately - have been avoiding the skunks (barely), but, its been slow. Not sure if its the weather or what. Anyway, they have been hitting the plastic worms lately but this AM they wouldn't have anything do with them. Put on a light colored spinner and pulled in 2 within about 30 minutes. Just keep at it, the spinner always seems to be the trick for me. Slow, up and down, retrieve seems to work the best for me. Hang in there and good luck, Eddie Quote
MinnesotaAngler Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Pond fishing must be all around slow...I went out to a pond today where I normally catch around 10 fish each time, and I didn't catch anything but a few bluegill... (Had to switch to smaller bait cuz the bigger ones werent yielding anything.) I have heard other people saying there pond fishing wasn't going very well either..I fished every technique that I know of for pond fishing and didn't get so much as a bite. > It was a bad day for me, too. FatBoy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I'll add another vote that pond fishing has been sloooow lately (although I good luck with my challenge this morning ). We've also had the cooler than normal weather and a lot of rain. Just keep at it I guess. Quote

Tom Bass Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Lake fishing isn't so hot lately either. As a matter of fact it hasn't been all that good in my area all summer. Quote
fishingJ Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Your talking to the local pond king! Ok, first tell me the water conditions like clear or merky, the population, weeds or no weeds and how close to the surface, etc. If you tell me those things I can probably give you something that will work. biteme Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Ponds have been good to me this summer here in Cali. Quote
