Super User Alpster Posted August 25, 2006 Super User Posted August 25, 2006 My late wife bought a little plaque at a craft fair, shaped like a fish that says.."A fisherman and his BEST catch ever, lives here." She was right about that! Ronnie Quote
YankeesWin Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 "Fishie, Fishie, in the brook... come and bite on (insert your name here)'s hook" My Ma used to bring that one out in the boat when things got a little slow. You might be surprised how many times it seemed to work. She's a saint!!! Quote

BassKing813 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Every hour you go without a bite, the closer you are to getting one. Quote
KillerTomato Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 funny about the cow thing...my grandpa used the exact opposite method-when cows sitting=bad fishing and vise versa, but who really knows. my personal motto is anytime is a good time for fishing Quote
topwaterdog91 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Better to set it, than regret it!!! Quote
timmyswetarded Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 hey did you get that from north american fisher or something like that? i have that issue A fisherman is a jerk on one end of the line waiting for a jerk on the other. A reel expert can tackle anything. There is no such thing as too much equipment. Fishing isn't a matter of life and death.... It's much more important. Give a man a fish And he will eat for a day... Teach a man to fish And he will sit in a boat And drink beer all day... Men and fish are alike.... They both get into trouble when they open their mouths. Old fisherman never die, they just smell that way! There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot ! To fish or not to fish... NOT TO FISH ?? Yea...like that's even an option ! A man and his boat do not need to be justified Early to bed early to rise-fish all day and make up lies If fishing is wrong, I don't want to be right Big fish are just like women they'll take you hook, line, and sinker I got this boat for my wife GOOD TRADE! In a boat is the place I want to be, always fishing is the life for me I live with fear everyday, but sometimes she let's me go fishing I fish therefore I lie Quote
CrazedL.IFisherman Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 when fishing slop: declare a loud and vocal "slop wars" "here fishy fishy, anyone home.... anyone wanna come out and play" Quote

Rattlinrogue Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Sometimes when I'm not catching anything, and it doesn't look like I will,I almost always say"If I'm gonna get skunked,I'm gonna get skunked throwing a topwater"(something I love to throw). Quote

Poor Richard Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 It is so much easier than y'all think. All our lore can be boiled down to one rule. Poor Richard says, "They're either bitin' or they ain't." Problem solved. Quote
Redtail Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 90% of the Fish are in 10% of the Water! Unfortunately I'm usually in the other 90% of the Water. Where is that other 10%? Quote
BASS fisherman Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 My first one-- I will be outside with my Dad, whom I fish with the majority of the time, and say-" Wow today sure is a great day to go fishing" My belief is that everyday no matter what the conditions are, is a great day to fish. #2 I just came up with this on the last fishing trip. Not always true, but in the lakes I predominatly fish it is. "If your not pulling weeds off your lure on every cast, your not bass fishing". Quote
Shad_Master Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Heard this one on the lake last Saturday when some guys pulled into a spot where some other guys had been catching fish -- a guy who will fish another man's spot would probably date a married woman. Quote

Keithscatch Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 My take on the Cow thing was that Cows are sensitive to Barometric pressure and when it is high they lay down. So when I used to live in Texas and would drive to Lake Fork to fish and would go by many a cow pasture and would see Cows laying down I knew it was going to be tough. More often then not it was. On the other hand when they were standing up the bite was better. Just something I have heard over the years. Maybe someone got it from the Farmers Almanac? Quote
