Just a minute to reiterate the importance of good sportsmanship. There is nothing better than taking a loss with class and congradulating the winner with a handshake.........................and a smile!

THAT is his real trophy. Your respect.

Couldn't have said it better myself!  I always try to give the winner a good handshake and a smile after it is all over with.  After all, fishing is about competing agianst the fish not your fellow fisherman.  Thanks for the reminder LBH.   ;)

Its all about Karma.........whether you believe in it or not.  What comes around, goes around.  So, don't make fun of the guy that got skunked and don't b!tch if you were that guy.  Sooner or later, we will all have our day in the sun........don't mess it up for the other guy.

I like what LBH says, but I would add "sincere" to the statement.  If you don't mean it then don't do it.  Just tuck your tail between your legs and quietly go home.

Even though I was raised with the philosophy If it doen't matter if you win or loose then Why do we keep score? I aint that much into competition.

However there are those competitive times when both winning and loosing with grace is so important Both parties and or teams get something out of it to use anyway.

YThats why I hate pro sports so much You ever wanna grab that footbakl and sitck it in the ear of some a%% doin a chicken dance in the end zone. Or some guy celbrating a basket he just made, considering hes getting paid 10,000 a basket anyway THATS HIS JOB!!!!!!!

That goes without saying.. losing is apart of any game and no one wins all the time but me (jk)

I seriously believe being a good loser makes the times you do win all that much better. Think how much it means to you when a competitor gives you heart felt praise when you win. Sincerity when you say nice win or you real were really at the top of your game today doesn't take a lot of effort from you but means a lot to the person it is given to. We all need to feel our efforts are noticed and rewarded at times. :)

I agree!  This is not a skill we are born with, it is a learned process.  Once we get it, we should certainly apply it to our daily walk but also look for opportunities to teach a child this great life lesson!
