Super User burleytog Posted August 30, 2006 Super User Posted August 30, 2006 I know BPS has a decent selection of instructional DVD's, but I find myself wondering if there are any others out there. I'm specifically looking for something to help me with jig and worm fishing. A google search turns up nothing but saltwater videos. I watch the fishing shows on ESPN2 and TODC and see the pros catching fish on anything and everything. I go out and try the baits on my local lakes and come up (usually) empty handed. Only this year have I really started fishing lakes. I spent almost 25 years fishing nothing but rivers and streams, using only two or three types of baits. Now I start trying to fish worms, spinnerbaits, jigs, etc. and I think I'm just going through the motions. Basically trying to find a way to jumpstart my fishing. Quote
George Welcome Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 "Basically trying to find a way to jumpstart my fishing." There are two ways to learn: 1) Trial and error which works for most but takes time. 2) Get instruction, which will speed up the process but is costly. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_fishing_jigs.html This ones free and the writer is one of the best with a jig. Craw Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I have personally seen KVD's spinnerbait DVDs and Denny Brauer's jig fishing videos. Both were good. You might also browse the selection at Amazon.com(here's that link) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_d/002-0338030-6893640?url=search-alias%3Dvideo-aps&field-keywords=bass+fishing They have some cheesy stuff but also have some pretty good video and books. Banor Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 The "Classic Patterns" DVD series are pretty good and entertaining. Like any other fishing show you have to glean what information you can from it. B Quote
flippin4it. Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 BPS sells a 3 pack of KVD videos for about ten bucks, a really great set. Stacey King has a really great top water video from BPS also. Quote
TheBeast Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Come on man you now all ya gotta do is hit the water with TheBeast more often, the few times we have been ya know I have knocked'em out with plastics. : I really do beleive that we may be using to small lures. Especially after watching Larry's videos, the fish around here have seen smaller stuff so much that the only way to go is bigger, or buy one of those $300 baits you found the other day. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 30, 2006 Author Super User Posted August 30, 2006 I wondered when you'd show up. 8-) Quote

What a great question. And thanks, George Welcome for that link. Looks like good info. I have never even tried fishing w/a jig, so I have something new to look into. Quote
Zebco202 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Hey Burley- Those KVD Videos are good. The 3-pack from BPS for $10 is money well spent. My favorite is "Pitchin To Heavy Hitters". They are educational and they are also fun to watch when you can't get on the water. I've also got Stacy King's Carolina Rig video, Tommy Martin's Lipless crank video and his Deep Grass Jigging video. Those are the only ones that I have. I enjoy them all. BPS had one of the Tommy Martin vhs videos on clearance for like $4.95 or something here recently. it's worth taking a look at if you've got the extrta cash. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 31, 2006 Super User Posted August 31, 2006 Still waiting to see LBH's instructional videos out any day now. Keep looking at BPS and Academy, but not there yet. If Russ would take a brake from the action packed fishing videos to take care of a few instrustional vids, ya'll wouldn't need to ask any more, just hit the BassResource Video Library. Hookem Matt. Super User Sam Posted September 5, 2006 Super User Posted September 5, 2006 Burley, Woo Daves BPS series is excellent. Woo discusses worm fishig and other techniques. As for jig fishing, Denny Brauer's Jig Secrets to Huge Catches, is very good. Quote
New Bass Man Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I think Woo Daves does an outstanding job teaching on worms. Highly recommended. Quote
