I have NEVER been unconventional. Casting a 20ft crankbait in four feet of water or a 3ft crankbait in 50ft of water is an absurd notion to me. It doesn't seem like it has hurt me though by being too conventional.

Sorry, but that's quite conventional  ;D  A deep diving crankbait in shallow water has won some BASS tournaments for several years. A rooting crankbait in shallow water is very appealing to a bass. So would a shallow running one when there is feeding activity over deep open water.
