saw these in a tackle tour article awhile ago.

the article was about some new baits rapala was about to introduce ( including the DT 20, clackin rap, and shallow xrap shad).

so far the only bait from the article i'd seen available was the clackin rap.

i finally saw the DT-FAT 01's for sale on www.bps.com and bought two.

got em today and they look killer! much fatter than the DT-FAT 03, and WAY fatter than any other DT.

can't wait to use them in the spring!

only complaint... they don't have the high pitched rattle that the DT-FAT 03's have.

There was also a new color in it.I forget what the box said but it's like the pearl grey shiner but with an orange belly.Nice.

The bait runs rather well and is extremely fat.I haven't had a good situation to use mine yet but it seems like a great lure.

My only complaint is the goofy a-- sure set hooks on it.The front hook protrudes wayyy past the front of the bill just waiting to snag any piece of debris it possible can like those hooks always tend to do.It just looks like a gill hooking mortal wounding fish killer. ::D

Switch them out! The only thing those sure set hooks are good for is hanging up on the carpet, the anchor line and my sneakers! I'm a klutz also, just switch em out!

I love them!  Especially on crankbaits that they tend to short strike

Sure sets are a love hate relationship. Yeh they hook up better on fish and i think its hard for fish to throw them, but they hook everything!!!!!Rocks, wood, muscles, ducks, beavers ETC...

I hope to try these things and see if they'll work out as a replacement for Baby 1-.

much fatter than the DT-FAT 03, and WAY fatter than any other DT.

Are you talking fat as in width, or fat as in from back to belly?

I bought 2 dt fat 1's yesterday at BPS.

I tried to order them from 2 local tackle shops and they didn't even know what I was talking about.

I even brought them a copy of the Rapala web site on them.

I have one that looks killer it is the chartruse one that blends to a dark violet back. They are about twice as fat as a baby 1 (width). Mine says dives to 3ft. on the bill.

oh crap! for some reason i thought bass pro's website was bps.com......my mistake: www.basspro.com :D

i didnt buy the sureset version (because i dont think they're worth an extra 2 bucks) BUT i do really like the sureset hooks. as someone else suggested, take that front sureset off and put it on the rear of a different crankbait and put a regular trebel in the front of your DT. this is what i do with ALL my sureset baits. the sureset in the front isn't that useful but the one in the rear is great.

Marty,

when i say fat i mean FAT! this thing is fat all around, wide, tall, long, and very round. they are MUCH better, like CRAZY better than the mann's baby -1. i've never liked those mann's cranks, just crappy quality all around. they don't even run good for me. i can tell already just from holding them these DT FAT 01's are gonna be great baits.
