fishingdude41791 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 when i fish the senko and it hits the bottom without a strike people say 2 lift and drop and i tried that but when i did that in water that i could see my senko it did not wiggle for about 5 seconds it first goes back and forth and if this is what its doing in shallow water it must be doing the same thing in deep water. are my worms defective or is that how they move? is there a way to make the senko wiggle when it first starts sinking or does it have 2 go back and forth first? and do any of u guys catch fish on the sink when it goes back and forth or is it that the senko has 2 be wiggleing 2 be effective? Super User Raul Posted August 12, 2006 Super User Posted August 12, 2006 Defective senko ? is it crooked ? Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 12, 2006 Super User Posted August 12, 2006 Here's what I do Ryan. As the lure falls you need to have both hands on the rod n reel in case you get a bite on the fall. Pull you elbows in tight to your body so that the rod and you body become like one. Now begin shaking you booty so to speak. Here's a few different falling senko actions you can achieve: 1. Do the twist - This gets the bait really working side to side. Works best on more aggressive fish. 2. Macarena - This gives the bait a sort of up and down twitchy motion. Watch for short strikes. 3. The mambo #5 - This really gets it wiggling. Hang on when fishing in heavy cover. 4. PeeWee Herman dance - I haven't had a lot of success with this one. I tried it twice and tripped over my TM foot control. Works good on lathargic bass I've heard. Good luck! Quote

fishingdude41791 Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 so the senko is moving correctly? Quote
Other. Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 I just think he expects it to do all the motion on its own. When people say it wiggles all the way down it barley wiggles you have to twitch your rod and it will go up and down. Quote
fishingdude41791 Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 everything that i read on says that the less u do the ore action u will get Quote
fishingdude41791 Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 sorry for the mistakesabove more* and i read the pages from this site* Quote
Craw Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 RYANm, when you fish the Senko t-rigged it will dart around with short twitches of the rod tip. To make the bait dart correctly you need to throw slack to the Senko after each twitch. This is the same way to fish Flukes, Slug-Gos and other soft plastic jerkbaits. The magic of the Senko is its rather quick rate of fall compared to other soft jerkbaits. When you pause the Senko on slack line it will never fall quite the same way twice. Lots of strikes will occur while it's falling. If it settles to the bottom without a strike then twitch it again and make sure you throw it slack so it can do its thing. Try not to ever let the bait fall on a tight line. When you fish the Senko wacky style you want a horizontal fall. When the bait hits the water give it a twitch or two and throw it some slack and you can achieve a perfect horizontal fall nearly everytime. Small twitches of the rod tip will make the Senko wiggle and appear to be alive. Allowing the wacky rigged Senko to fall all the way to the bottom will cause some hang ups so I try and keep it from touching down. The wacky rig has been so effective for me that I just try and fish it deep enough that I can't see it. You know, that zone in the water where your bait just begins to go out of sight. Anyway...I hope this will help and good luck with your Senko fishing. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Try it wacky rigged. I wacky rig it for this reason specifically. When it's hooked in the middle, there is no "side to side", both ends wiggle right of the bat and all the way to the bottom, in a straight down fall. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 i only wacky rig around rock walls and such if im around weeds im not wacky riggin Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Who has Cajun77 in the member challenge? Quote
lovecranking Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Craw, when you wacky rig your senko, what hook are you using? Quote
Craw Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Craw, when you wacky rig your senko, what hook are you using? 1/0 or 2/0 Gamakatsu EWG is what I've currently been using for the wacky rig. I plan on trying some Circle Octopus Hooks when I get some Orings. Quote
fishingdude41791 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 is there a way 2 wacky rig and not hang up so much? Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 21, 2006 Super User Posted August 21, 2006 Try with a weedles hook. Quote
