Dr. Bass Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 1. Fat ika rigged upside down 4/0 ewg hook 2. BronzEye frog/black...(currently working good for me 3. Spinnerbait/buzzbait along the weed edge Good luck! Quote
Tom Bass Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Dr. Bass has some good suggestions. also, try a Rapala floater silver/black. Quote
FatBoy Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I agree with the suggestions so far. If you can't find fat ikas at the store (which you probably won't) get some GYCB Senkos or a knock-off (Tiki Sticks, Yum Dingers, etc.). The best color will depend on water conditions at your pond, but a good one that works in a lot of places for me is something like watermelon w/red flake. Rig the senkos on the same 4/0 EWG hooks, toss it into or just outside the weeds, and let it sink. And be patient. Let it sit for several seconds before you move it. Good luck! Quote
Dane Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 i have had new found success on a super fluke rigged weightless Quote
Deuceu72 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Shallow Crankbait along the weedlines or bumping into the cover............ Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 after 5pm i would suggest some surfacing lures like a jerbait/floating minnow Quote
liquidsoap Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Shallow Crankbait along the weedlines or bumping into the cover............ What he says would be my number 1 choice Also senkos as most said... Small finese worms, jigs, and tubes would work well also. Quote
YankeesWin Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Lately with me I've been having all my luck with anything that rattles. Crank baits, lipless crank baits, top water baits, it doesn't seem to matter as long as it rattles. I really haven't been able to figure out why. Quote
GAMEOVER Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 This time of year (August) all I use are plastics, GYCB 3" Senkos and Ikas.. I do however all of spring, summer, and fall use Heddon Torpedos on mornings and/or nights. Quote
fishingJ Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I'd buy a small crank, a spinner, pop-r, and some soft plastics to suite every situation. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted August 12, 2006 Super User Posted August 12, 2006 MY SUMMERTIME FAVORITES BPS Paddle Stik Worm (5.5" paddletail worm) 3/0 T-Rig <> 1/16 oz Weight Yum Ribbontail Worm (7.5" ribbontail worm) 3/0 T-Rig <> 1/16 oz Weight Waveworm Tiki Stick (5.0" stick worm) 3/0 T-Rig <> 1/16 oz Weight Yamamoto Kut-tail Worm (6.5" straight worm) 3/0 T-Rig <> 1/8 oz Weight FYI: Though it's rarely publicized, the ledgers at the fishing camps in Florida reveal that plastic worms routinely outperform live minnows during the "summertime", both on a quantitative and qualitative basis. pondhopper Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Waveworms and super flukes have been pretty hot here lately. Quote
Shakes Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 I've used a Black 3/8oz. Booyah Buzz for the past 2 months and smash on bass every day! My average has gone up to about 16 fish a day! Killer bait! Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I haven't just been tearing 'em up lately, but I've caught some on a Rapala floating minnow(early, late),deep diving shad rap, pitching watermelon candy tubes at docks, and drop shotting a green pumpkin finese worm. Quote
