I never used them enough to tell. The only lure made by Rapala that seemed to have sucky paint on it.

I picked the whole series of these when they first came out. To date, I've caught a total of 3 fish on the Risto Raps (1 musky and 2 largemouths). Needless to say, I don't throw them anymore.

I caught a lot of fish on the smaller one (about the size of the DT-6).

It was way better at negotiating cover than a Shad Rap - and that's where I spent most of my time throwing it.

In all, I think the DT-6 does a great job at replacing it......I don't feel like I'm missing out.  I still have several of the old Ristos.......maybe I'll spend some more time with them this year to relearn their ways.

The Risto Rap is a good crank, just as good as any other crank. I've caught many bass on the RR7 and RR8. At last count I had 78 of these still new in the box and always have a couple on the boat when the crank bite is on. Most productive colors for me are the emerald green shad and char/black shad, both special limited and were not offered in U.S. catalogs.

They were like the rapala wide wobbling crankbaits to complement the shad rap. Better workhorse deep divers. But the DT series is similar and pretty much replaced them. But they still work.
