amature help!!!!

on thursday im going 2 fish lake anza from 3 oclock to 7 with some friends.were trying 2 c who can catch the most and the biggest and i was wondering if you guys(or gurls) have any tips or pointers for a amature like me . the lake is really small you can walk around the whole thing in about 18 minutes and the water is about 5 feet lower than normal because they open the spill way.i was thinking about starting with a 5in senko using the lift and drop technique .

questions

1)the glide and drop is my go 2 tactic with a senko so if that doesnt work wat should  i do?

2)the lakes low where should i target first? the deepest place i can find?

3)is it good 2 use fast moving lures like spinnerbait in the summer when the bass are sluggish 2 first locate them?

4)how good are senkos for dead sticking? because i thought they were only good for when the sink not being dragged

If your lake is really shallow and you lost 5 feet the bass are probally really stressed and the water is clear. I would suggest using a fineese senko. Like the 3.5inch skinny senkos. You picked a good choice on the senko because scince its summer bass are looking for a quick and easy meal. They dont want to chace to much because there is not that much oxergyn in the water. Just rig the fineese senko and let it fall to the ground and dead stick it. Give it a shake every couple of mins.

1. If the senko does not work try a jig (A jig would be my first choice after a senko)

2. And try to target the deepest part of the lake IN SHADE there is a diffrence between 15feet in the sun and 10feet in the shade. bass like the shade

3. Fast moving lures are good after a raining night and the water temputers are cooler. But it its really hot stick with the slow moving plastics.

4. As long as the bass has spotted the senko it will stay there for a while. The second you twitch the senko durring dead sticking it should trigger a strike.

i tried fishing the jig and senko with not a whole lot of luck. i got 1 fish about 3lbs and 2 otheres about 14inches.the senko was really ineffective. normally i use the senko on cover but at this lake all the cover was in water about 2and a half feet deep.every where esle had thick weeds that the senko could not be retreived through. is there any techniques for using a senko on thick weeds because all i could do was let it sink through a whole in the weeds and bring it back in if nothing

I have fished Lake Anza in Berkeley several times.  I have gotten bit on 5-inch watermelon and red flake senkos, T-rigged with light bullet sinkers.  I have also been bit using a brown/black 1/2 oz jig with an orange craw trailer.  This lake is cooler than most lakes this time of year.  I have had the most fish caught on the side of the lake opposite the spillway.  Just fish that senko slow, hopping and twitching in the weeds.  You will get bit.  That lake is my little secret spot and there are some lunkers in there.

i normally fish the side by the small waterfall and right before it theres a small sand bar that i like 2 stand on but lately the weeds have been growing so thick that its hard 2 fish that spot. i normally pitch senkos in the holes but if i dont get a bite on the initial fall wat should i do because i cant lift and drop without getting alge on the senko?
