New Bass Man Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 What do you think? I'm a member of bass but haven't made the leap to Bass Insider. If you are a member of Bass Insider, please tell us the benefit you get from it. Quote
x-trued Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Good question. I'm in the same boat. I have been pondering the membership myself. I look forward to the responses we get. Quote
basspro48 Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Don't do it, don't even consider it. Basically all you get is the ability to watch short little instructional videos and browse the Bassmaster archives, things you used to be able to do for free BASS needs to give their members a little more, instead of making us pay for every little thing. Don't waste your money on this, instead use all that saved $$$ to feed the baitmonkey Quote
lacab Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I did the 30 day free trial. I didn't think it was worth the money so I cancelled it. I agree with basspro48. Most of the stuff used to be available for free. Quote
Pa Angler Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I'm a member, SAVE YOUR MONEY..... It's not worth the cost hasn't taught me anything just get the Bassmaster Magazine, Bassin Magazine and/or In-Fisherman or feed the Bait Monkey with the savings. > Chow The Pa Angler Quote
buzzbait100 Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 First thing i love being a member of BASS.i did the 30 days and canceled.Im a life member of BASS and i think this is one way for them to get more money back. Quote
ikebass15 Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I remember the good old day's when you could browse the old archives for free. not anymore! from what iv'e seen, SAVE YOUR DOUGH! just my 0.02 Quote
Guest ouachitabassangler Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I attend at least one Bassmaster University every year where I've had nice talks with Denny Brauer, David Fritts, Jimmy Houston, KVD, Mike Iconelli, etc about technique specifics and listen to them tell and demonstrate their specialties twice a day each for two days, then sit and eat supper with them. They discount the Insider fee off the enrollment price, so I break even there. I've been given bait packages at the door worth at least $50, and have won drawings totalling at least $500, including baits, rods, reels donated by pros, and equipment donated by BPS. I have over $500 worth of discount coupons as good as 50% off on stuff I use. The Tips Archives alone are valuable, if doing no more than reminding me of forgotten techniques. I've been entertained listening to audio messages of many top pros, and found out about some great deals on their websites, often on merchandise I was planning to try anyway. If you don't buy baits and tackle or attend the seminars and already know all there is to know about the latest trends, then Insdier isn't worth the money. I agree BASS ought to include it in the lifemembership, but they DON'T and probably won't. Meanwhile I'm not going to bite off my nose to spite my own face rebelling against BASS. Jim Quote
New Bass Man Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 Seems like most people say it isn't worth it. I'll take your word for it. Thanks. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted July 24, 2006 Super User Posted July 24, 2006 Basically all you get is the ability to watch short little instructional videos and browse the Bassmaster archives, things you used to be able to do for free Agreed. I enjoyed the full access to all of the Bassmaster stuff before they charged for it. I think this website fills those gaps and its all for free. Thanks, Glenn. Quote
New Bass Man Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 I just think it's only a matter of time before the multi-media whizzes on here start to make videos show people how to do something. I think I'd trust the folks on here more because they don't have a monetary reason to make a statement. It's for the love of bass fishing. So with that, I challenge Low Budget Hookers to do a video on jigs! Quote
Guest avid Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I got suckered one time. What a total waste. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 25, 2006 Super User Posted July 25, 2006 If this is the newspaper type magazine Bass puts out on top of Bassmaster I say don't waste your money. I subscribed the day the thing became available many years ago. It certainly had more indepth coverage of the tourney trail plus gobs of political stuff that BASS was involved in across the country along with pretty good coverage of federation goings on but as far as getting any real insider info I'd have to say no. The magazine now covers the tournaments as good as the Insider used to and considering ESPN has taken over the organization, I'd say any info on conservation issues will be ignored since ESPN basically cares about the tournaments and little else that BASS used to be known for. Rattlinrogue Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I'm a member of BASS,but I draw the line at doling out $50 for a little info that I could most likely get on this forum for free. Quote
Guest JoshKeller Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I personally think the entire BASS membership is a total waste since they've been acquired by ESPN. Quote
