i was wondering what is a tougher situation  for   each indivisual       fishing for bass in the dead of heat  or in the coldest of cold        taking all  circumstances into account i would think cold would be better for myself  personally   forces me  to slowdown    dont  have to deal with fishing pressure as you would with the summertime   and one good bite could heat you up real quick :D

Cold water can be tough...Warmer water is usually easier to fish.

i agree about cold water. In cold water, even if you know where they are, they may not always be in a mood to bite. But in the summer, they eat baits more readily as long as you know where they are.

It's all in your head,...lol Fingertips don't exist below 30 degrees with moisture.

Keeping a sense of humor is key at this point!

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's all your head.  That being said .... it SUCKS to be out there in the cold.  I can spend all day out in 100 degree heat.  It would suck, but I can put up with it.  Put me out on a lake in the 30's ....... the trip won't last long.

Cold weather is definitely tougher and more miserable for me, and harder to catch fish, In summer I never get too hot, because I know how to take a dive! Plus early topwater alway produces a couple for me.

Cold!!! I hate the heat...............

Here in central Texas, I would rather spend a day at the lake in January with H2O temps in the 50's than a day in July with H2O temps around 90. I may not catch as many, but they will be bigger on average. Also the whole sun/skin cancer issue is less of a concern.

You should be here at the moment: sucko - high heat with humity off the chart - making for a tough day.

Got that here too as I type.  Highs for the next 5 days are near are at 100 with disgusting humidity and heat indexes over 110.

Yep .... I am going to be a hermit this week.

Seeing as how it doesn't get all that cold in South Texas-I haven't seen water temps lower than 48 or so-I'll take the cooler weather.  Getting your hand burned when you pick up a different rod ain't exactly a pleasant experience.

haha... dinosaur attack ;D

That was a joke, Eric  had previously been telling me about the dream he had the night before where he was being attacked by a dinosaur but it was one of the huge vegetarian types, not a meat eater.  We analyzed that all morning, lol

Funny the stuff you talk about when you float in a 12 ft boat for 8 hrs at a time.

Cajun,

I'll tell you what's tougher.

Tulane beating LSU in football.

Alabama beating LSU in football.

Vandy beating anyone in SEC.

Auburn staying off probation for football recruiting violations.

Being a jock at Kentucky and not being able to bounce a basketball.

Playing for Stanford and having a tree as your mascot.

Making a roux without flour.

Not having your Community Coffee and beignets in the morning.

Meeting up with a moccasin while gigging frogs.

Staying sober on an LSU football Saturday in Baton Rouge.

Being from Bossier City and admitting it.

And fishing when the temperature is below 70 degrees!

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouller!

I live in upstate ny, so cold to me is 30 degrees or below. Ever try fishing for bass in 15 degree weather? I have.......I'd fish the hottest most humid day anywhere over that. You have to pick the ice out of your line guides every cast, that is if your fingers work.... I gotta move down south

I guess if I lived down south, winter fishing would be sweet, but in Northwest Missouri the winter temperatures can be sub-zero at times.  Last winter was a warm winter and the water temps were still down in the low 30s on the bigger lakes.  When you can't feel your fingers it's difficult to fish, so I have more trouble with extreme cold than extreme heat.

I hear ya senile about the fingers! Hey all you southerners, I'm sure you know about flippin grass mats, docks and what not, but have you ever tried flippin sheets of ice? NOw thats hardcore! Seriously though, I gotta move down south.

Extreme heat and bitter cold lead me to the same conclusion.
