Rebbasser Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 You going to hang that toad on the wall ;D? Had the same thing happen with a fluke one time-it was bigger than the fish, and I didn't even set the hook-the fluke just got wedged in the fish's mouth. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 15, 2006 Super User Posted July 15, 2006 I would call that an ambitious bass ! Quote
Whopper-Stopper Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I don't know why little bass hit stuff that big. Bass are agressive from the minute they are born. I have some bluegill that I keep in a fish tank. They are about 7" long. I caught a 3.5" bass on my fly rod one day and put him in the aquarium. He hid out in the corner for about a day and a half. Then everyday at feeding time he would charge the bluegill that were twice as big as him; and steal their worms. Sometimes he would even try to bite the bluegill. Eventually, the bluegill started hiding in the corner and their tales and fins were taking on a tattered apearence from the bass constantly biting them. Once the bluegill stopped eating, I put the bass back in the pond. After that the bluegill acted fine. Quote
Bassassasin12 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I dont think I have ver seen a bass that small Quote
stratoscaster Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I've always wanted to put a bass in a fish tank. Quote
Fish Chris Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I was once trolling a 9" Swimbait, when it felt like it picked up some grass or something. So I reeled it in to find out that an 8" bass had apparently aimed right for the big ol' 2/0 treble, and managed to get one of the three points right through is lip :-) If that fish doesn't get himself killed, it is certainly destined to become a big ol' California trout eater ! :-) Pretty funny how agressive those little ones can be sometimes ! Peace, Fish Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I've always wanted to put a bass in a fish tank. not a great idea,...whole list of reasons. Quote
Whopper-Stopper Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 LBH you may be right on the bass. There are probably other things that could go wrong besides it terrorizing the bluegill. Those bluegill that I have are thriving. You wouldn't believe all of the worms, minnows, and crickets those things can put away. I'm going to have a couple of record bluegill in no time. They even eat out of my hand. Quote
anthony6377 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 What size tank do you have the Bluegills in and how many Bluegills do you have? Quote
Whopper-Stopper Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 It's a 50 gallon (long) tank. There are two bluegill and a Long-eared sunfish. Here is a picture of one of the bluegill. Quote
Keithscatch Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I've had bass in fish tanls for several years when I was younger. Pretty fun fish to have actually. Mine even ate turkey scraps I would toss in the tank. Quote
