drop-shot fool Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I have about 15 spinnerbaits that have gotten rust and some kind of hard green stuff on them and i can't get it off. Does any one know of any solvent or cleaner that will make the blades like new. Quote
Calcutta Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Ive had luck with simichrome polish or wenol, both can be bought at a motorcycle shop. Quote
VolFan Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 The cheapest toothpaste with baking soda you can find, rinse them in white vinegar Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 Sometimes it's just easier to replace the blades. Falcon Quote
drmnbig Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Sometimes it's just easier to replace the blades. Falcon Yep, I just pulled the blades of about 5 of my spinnerbaits to do just this. Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 If they are rusty, switch em out. If they are discolored, dip em in Tarn-X if you can find it. If you have access to a polishing wheel or dremel type tool that will shine them up. Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I do not know if it is still made, but Flitz is a good polish for blades. Brad Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 If you really want to clean them, then get a can of "NEVR DULL" at the auto parts store. Will make short work of cleaning just about any kind of metal. (Great for stainless steel revolvers too!) Quote
