Fish Chris Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 would have been so blunt, but now that you mention it...... :-) If you ever here me say, "I caught one that was 'about' 7 lbs"..... No, I didn't weight it, because it doesn't matter to me if it were really 6 or 8 lbs. But if I caught one that was 15.8 lbs, that's because I weighed it, and it went 15.8 lbs. Personally speaking, if I'm reading a post and I see something like, "This thing was huge ! I think it was at least......" I pretty much hit the back button right then and there. Scales and cameras are just too easy to come by. And fish weights can just be SOOO decieving, especially to someone who has not weighed a lot of fish in the size range in question. Peace, Fish Quote
galv Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 not sure on the average but i don't fish huge bass ponds and the fish aren't as big here as down south. when it's 2.5lb and over i'm like "good fish" 3.5 is like "score! sweet!" then it escalates up. this year i've caught one 5pound 12 ounce and the one trip i didn't have the scale i caught one of similar size (similar location. i checked to see if it was the same exact fish) and one even bigger i'd estimate 7lb. even if i catch a monster it's probably a dink to someone like Fish Chris but it doesn't really bother me. its a great catch considering the circumstances. Troutfisher Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 What about the 50 lb plus largemouth that I always catch? ;D Average 2-4 lbs. Quote
spotaholic Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Just goes to show that the saying is true...." When is a fisherman telling a story...anytime he or she opens his mouth." I wish that I never caught a fish under 2lbs. You would be watching me on TV instead of reading this post.In the hot summer months in Ga. 5 fish weighing 8-10lbs total get's you in the money. Quote
BassChaser57 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 If this poll has showed anything it is that they are alot of liars here. I have to confess, it depends wher I go and how I fish. Sometimes I enjoy lots of action and of course that means dinks. Sometimes I will fish only for larger fish. So my correct answer is ---I don't know how to answer. I have a small lake where I can catch 15-20 per hour but they are small then I can go to Lake Fork where 2 good fish per day is a good day. Mostly 3lbs or less though. 8-) Quote
knkfiend Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 the poll doesnt go low enough for me :-[ my average fish is probably in the 1 lb range, and if im lucky some days it will be 1.5. altough today i did catch a solid 5+ momma Quote
