Topwater is a good way to go in the morning.

Hey bass_finder,

Welcome to the boards!

Early morning, I like to go with search baits. Top waters being the first this time of year. If the top water bite isn't on, I'll go with a spinnerbait or a lipless crankbait. Hope this helps!

In the morning I like to throw topwaters such as poppers and buzzbaits in flats, because in morning is when those fish will come up there to feed, and a topwater is a good way to cover alot of water fast.

TOPWATER for sure.  Pop-R or Spooks.  I would get it as close to any structure that you could find.  Trees, stumps etc.  Don't be in a rush on the retrieve and be erratic with it.  When that bite goes away I always grab the worm/plastics and keep on doing the slow retrieve.  With the temps in the upper 80's around here now you have to get out there early too.  I am headed out in the morning myself and you can bet that I will have that Pop-R in my hand first thing.  Go Gettem.

Since bass are typically most aggressive mornings in late spring/early summer, feeding heaviest shallow before moving out to pester deep water shad schools, it's a safe bet to focus on faster moving aggressive baits like energetic topwaters, buzzbaits, super shallow waked spinnerbaits, and darting escaping crankbaits that appeal to bass with their metabolism at its peak for the day. As water temps increase that suffers and they become more lethargic, but not in the cool of the mornings. Once the cool is gone they go deeper or farther into the thickest cover and will respond to easy meals like slow moving worms.

I'm in Jim's Boat.

Believe it or not, I don't get alot of topwater bite in the mornings.  Sometimes but certainly not often.

Slow moving larger baits.  Start shallow, move deeper.

It's 1:03am here, I'll be on the water in an hour.  I'll let you know what worked for today when I get in.
