Super User Hookemdown. Posted June 16, 2006 Super User Posted June 16, 2006 Recently I discovered a pond near my house(which excited me because before that I had to travel 20-25 miles to find a decent bass spot), and near noon when it was 90+ degrees, caught a numerous amount of fish. However after nooon around 1-2 oclock, Nothing was rising. This water is dirty, not just muddy. It's got debris and a lot of other things floating in it. Do i need to be using shiny noticeable and bright colored baits? Any suggestions? Thanks Quote
Nicky Greece Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Throw em a BLACK 4in Senko T-Rigged, weightless. The black will stick out more in the dirty water, Bass will have an easier time seeing it. I think....Lure Gurus, set me straight if thats not right. Quote

Super User Gatorbassman Posted June 16, 2006 Super User Posted June 16, 2006 With muddy, or as you say "dirty" water the fish need to be able to locate your lure. A quiet worm is not going to cut it. The first thing you need has already been said. You need dark or bright colors. The second thing is vibration or noise. You accomplish vibration by using a lure that displaces water. The more water it displaces the more vibration. I love a C-rig with a paddle-tail worm. I caught about 8 yesterday in very muddy water on one. A wide lipped crankbait and a spinnerbait with a Colorado Blade is a good choice to. The bigger the lip or blade the more vibration. The noise factor can be accomplished by use of rattles inserted into a worm or a crankbait with rattles or a buzzbiat ect. I personally don't like to use a rattle trap in very muddy water because it has to be worked to fast and by the time the fish locates it the lure is gone. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted June 17, 2006 Author Super User Posted June 17, 2006 See, this is the weird part. Right after I arrived there, one of my friends was using a white, very small(1in. or less) for bream and crappie. then we started catching bass with those things. What gives? Later in the day we didn't catch anything with those things or anything else for that matter. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted June 17, 2006 Super User Posted June 17, 2006 The problem is that bass don't know the rules. Quote
