Upriver88 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Walmart had them clearenced out so i picked up a pack of 5" finesse. Was wondering if anybody likes them or if my 1.50$ would have been better spent on something else? Also does anybody fish these rigged weedless? they seem extremely stiff and im worried about not being able to pull the hook through the bait. Wondering if anybody has encountered this problem? Quote
SimonSays Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I've never tried their worms but I did buy their hardnose tubes and flukes, on these the hard noses don't seem to change the action much or at all. I do have one gripe with them though...since the nose area is so hard it doesn't rip as easily like it's advertised, however the area where the density changes from soft to hard tends to split alot for me. That ends up changing the action and is more annoying than a torn head. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I used to love those worms!! Well they were packaged as Walmart/FLW brand, and they weren't hardnose. But they were the same exact worms, minus the hardnose, still made by Manns. To me, those worms are one of those lures that you throw when nothing else works. At one of the ponds I fish I will throw them weightless and usually the fish will clobber them right after they hit the water. The downfall was that they are very soft and rip off your hook after each fish. The hardnose should correct that issue though. You can use them for any technique dealing with worms really. The only thing I wouldn't do with them is use them as a flipping or pitching bait. Other than that, your golden! Quote
srv1990 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Not a very good worm to use with a finesse/shakey head jig, the kind with the spiral lock on them. Otherwise, not a problem to t-rig. Quote
Big Tom Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I bought a pack at Wal-Mart last season but I haven't really thrown them yet. I cannot see any reason why they wouldn't work though. Quote
T-Bone Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I don't use them but a friend of mine uses them often t-rigged, I've seen him catch several nice fish with them (5lbs+), and they seem to hold up pretty well when catching lots of fish. Quote
Jaheff Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I have good luck with them for smallmouth here on the Colorado river. Just T-rigged w\lite weight. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted January 30, 2009 Super User Posted January 30, 2009 Never tried the finesse worm, but the regular hardnose 7" is awesome. I like the hardnose, doesn't rip, or climb the hook, they do last longer than regular worms. But I couldn't say about the finesse worms. Quote
HB Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 What do you think of the "spice" scent? I bought a couple bags of the manns hardnose mullet in watermelon/red & new penny. One smells like rotten fish and the other smells like candy. What's up with that??? :-/ Quote
Big Tom Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I don't know but they do smell like death. I got them in one of my boxes with some powerbait worms and together, they create such a beautiful aroma. Quote
