Ridgerunner7 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm looking to learn this technique, but not really sure where or when I should choose this over any other technique. Thanks in advance for the help. 1. Do I use a floating plastic lure so it rides up higher than the bottom, or a regular and drag the lure on the bottom? 2. What time of bottom cover am I looking for and what depth range? (in weeds, edges of weeds, gravel bars, rocks) 3. What is the retrieve most commonly used? (hopping, steady retrieve) Anything else I should know about it? Quote
Guest ouachitabassangler Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Do a favor and read through "Carolina Rig Tips" a few lines above this topic, then come back with questions about refining your technique. I think most of it got covered there, and it was made a sticky topic to stay high on the list since this subject is one that gets a lot of attention. We'll be gald to add whatever turns out to be missing there, as everyone here has at least one opinion. Jim Quote
DDbasser Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 YES to all your questions. Try all of your own suggestions and remember, you are only limited by your imagination. Don't be afraid to do something different, that's what sets the great anglers apart from the rest, not that I'm a great angler but I'm getting there. LOL!!!!!!! Quote
Shad_Master Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Like DDBasser says, use your imagination -- when what's supposed to work doesn't - try what's not supposed to work -- who knows? Quote
Smib Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Don't be afraid to go large. I regularly throw 10.5 in worms on 2.5 foot leaders. You might be surprised at the number of 11-13 in bass that you catch on the large worms along with big bass. Smib Quote
