BassKing813 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Last weekend I bought a brand new Daiwa Procyon Heavy Action flippin' stick with an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur reel spooled with 50lb test Spiderwire and am going fishing this weekend. It will be the first time I have ever tried flipping. Any pointers on this technique or best baits to use. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted June 2, 2006 Super User Posted June 2, 2006 It's all here under the Tips and Tactics section. This is the link for flippin' and pitchin'. http://www.bassresource.com/fish/flip&pitch.html You'll want to practice before you do this on the water. Quote
Will Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 The spiderwire braid doesn't have any stretch, watch your fingers when setting the hook that stuff will cut your hand and fingers real good. Quote
rodpilot Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 How much memory does the spider wire have? I read another post about putting a new spool of line in hot water to 'reset' the memory on spinning reels. Mine is a spinning Quantum Catalyst Pi and I like the tip. I don't know how that would work on the a baitcaster like the Abu. I can backlash a baitcaster pretty quick since I've only touched one once or twice. Quote
FiveAlive Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Loosen your drag. Do lots of hopping, bouncing, and shaking when you flip into the cover. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 2, 2006 Super User Posted June 2, 2006 rodpilot, Line memory is not (generally) a big issue with baitcasting equipment. Spiderwire (and all braids) have no memory, none whatsoever. Quote

rodpilot Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Thanks Will and Roadwarrior. I'll tuck that nugget away. Quote
