I realized this morning that I have fallen into a pretty bad habbit. I always seem to get stuck in pitchin' mode after a pitch. This morning for instance;  I was pitchin into some flooded brush, going along at a good pace, then noticed a spot- nice and open that went along about 30 feet in between a row of trees. I decided to work it over with a senko, using my senko rig.. spinning reel.. I tried to cast it and couldn't.. I couldn't seem to get much of my arm in motion after all the pitching. It took about 5 minutes for me to get my brain out of pitching mode and stop tryin to roll my wrist. Had me pretty embarassed I gotta say.. Friend was laughing at me the entire time.. kept slapping the boat/water with the senko, looking like a newbie. granted it was 4:30 and I was a bit tired  ;). an extreme case, usually isnt THAT bad, but ya know it's happened a few times.

Got me thinking; wonder what bad habbits any of you might have? :)

hehehehe i have had the same issues...one of my worst habbits is getting in a rush to cast somewhere and not letting the rod do the work. so i end up being terribly off target .

One my most annoying habits is trying to cast too hard.  Especially if I switch rods to something softer or lighter.  The really bad side of this is that I will on occastion actaully break heavier lures off because I cast too hard.

My biggest bad habit is fishing too fast.  I especially get into this after catching one and find myself moving the bait too fast on the next several casts. Could it be adrenalin?

One of mine is just the opposite.  Fishing to slow. Sometimes I dont know why I just dont move.

Worst habit? Well, sometimes I am in too much of a hurry to check my line for frays and nicks. Cost me a good fish in a tournament last weekend. I am getting better with checking though. Lost fish will do that to ya! >:( >:( >:(

I have a problem with not giving certain lures a chance. When I fish the strip pits I find myself jumping between a huskey jerk to rubber worm over and over. But I usually due well on either depending on what kind of weather we have been having.

Only going to the spots where I have caught fish at, which means not at the deepst points in my lake....could be missing the big one..

I still pick my nose.   I just can't seem to quit.  It's so darn convenient when there is no kleenex around.  Who am I kidding,  I still do it when the box is a 2 ft away. ;)

:(  Haste

And not changing lures often enough.

Hey, Sodaksker:  boogers make great bait.  For bass, the bigger the better.

1. While flippin' and pitchin' I have a bad habit of pulling a few feet of line off my reel so my bait sinks straight down.I'm sure I've missed a hit or three at some point by doing that.

2. Sticking with one particular bait too long......that bait is usually the one that I catch the first fish of the day with.Sometimes it works out, sometimes not.

3. Fishing too fast hurts my game at times.

1. Sometimes I don't pay full attention to where I'm casting and can't believe some of the places I get myself into. OF course its always the lure I can't bear to lose as well.

2.Smoking, I don't even think I'm doing that bad, if I"m out on the water for more than 4 hours, I better have more than one pack on stand by, I'll think I'm doing good and watching that I dont smoke so much, then I look down and the pack's empty.

3. THE WORST of ALL, (maybe best depending on how you look at it) ;D

Fishing 1 or 2 hours longer than I told my wife I would, most of the time I leave my cell phone off or don't take it at all in the boat and end up getting an earful of " you told me you'd be back at this time, you could have been dead, etc etc.. Happens everytime. and even if I compensate by adding a few hours, i'll still do it haha

In the spring I rely on sight fishing too much, I don't know why either. I catch just as many bass I don't see as ones I do. But I always seem to be quick to move to a new spot if I don't see any bass insted of working it over

Not paying attention to what is going on as far as, what did I do to make the fish bite. STUPID!!

My worst habit is fishing a worm or some other soft plastic bait too fast.  I am primarily a crankbait or a bass assassin type of fisherman.  I have a real hard time slowing down when the time comes to slow down to fish a worm.  Just about the only thing that I have found that slows me down is to sit down.  I put the seat onto the front deck and sit down and force myself to slow down.  I am  sure that sitting is a mental thing and I probally would not need to sit but so far it is all that works.

May your line never break on a big fish

I have some of the same ones you all do.  Another one that I guess is indirectly a fishing habit is I get so used to backing my boat and trailer up and turning the steering wheel opposite to where I want to go that when I'm just backing out of a parking place or my driveway I find myself doing the same thing.  Until I realize I'm backing up in the wrong direction and quickly change back to normal backing up.  I hope that made sense, lol. :P
