basspro48 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I love smallies, spots, and largemouths, but nothing beats a peacock on the other end Quote
mjhutch1116 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 If money were not an object I would love to go after some Peacock bass. Every time I see a show about them it just makes me want to go down to the tropics and try my luck!!!!!! Matt May your line never break on a big fish Quote
papa smurf Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I'd like to try my luck at the other bass species but I would stick to largemouths for most of my fishing. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 28, 2006 Super User Posted May 28, 2006 We have both largemouth and smallmouth in the lakes, ponds, and rivers here in NY. But I enjoy LM fishing the most. I used to visit my mom in Fla. alot when I was a kid, I guess my addiction to LM fishing started there. I rarely fish for smallmouth. One thing I have noticed is when fishing for LM I never catch the occasional SM, but on the occasional SM outing, I seem to "accidently" catch a few LM. Some will laugh but my PB SM is only 2lbs, I have caught bigger crappie than than that lol. Quote
VaBass80 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I took a break from fishing LMB for a few years to fish stripers and other off shore species, even tho the fish are larger in saltwater, the challenge of hooking up with a nice LMB is more thrilling. When fishing for stripers on a boat or surf fishing you'd get 10-20 bites everytime going out on a trip. The action is great, but when fishing for LMB you might get 4-5 bites on any given day and hooking up with one is much more of a thrill. I still enjoy saltwater fishing but I really love the challenge of fishing for LMB. Quote
flyphisher # Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Wadefishing for river bass on light fly tackle....Redeyes and piedmont bass..... Quote
Peter E. Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Out of the fish metioned, the Peacock and the Guadaloupe are the only two I have not fished for. As a result I would love to chase some of those bad boys to where ever they keep their haunts and show them that when it comes to an Ambassaduer 6000 bait caster and a 7 foot flippin stick, resistance is futile!!!!!!!!!!!! WABass Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Like mentioned above I dont have the $$$ to go fishing for those tropical bass, I love catching Largemouth, but a 5-6 pound smallie is by far a funner fish to catch than a 5-6 pound largie, pound for pound smallies are a stronger fighting fish, at least in Washington st. northgabassfisher Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Im the only one that likes fishing for spots lol. but that all we got in lake lanier I also like to chase stripers every once and a while. Quote
