BigBrotherThunda Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 had alot of luck with the suspending fingerlings. crankin em down to structure and stopping em over or in it. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 27, 2009 Super User Posted January 27, 2009 I've had some success with a Fat Free Fry in Citrus Shad. I picked up some Fat Free Guppys, and Fat Free Fingerlings late in the season, so I didn't get a chance to really fish them. What gets me excited is, watching Timmy Horton fish the Fat Free Shads, and catching two bass at once. Falcon Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 27, 2009 Super User Posted January 27, 2009 Bombers are one of the best lower end baits made. (under $10.00) Can't go wrong with anything in their line. Quote

BassinBoy Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 My buddy does mostly pond fishing and he fished the bomber fat free fry almost exclusively for his crankbait fishing and absolutely slayed them!!!!!!!! ;D I got a few for this year and I highly recommend them to you for a shallow crankbait. SkilletSizeBass. Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I did good on the smaller fat free shad, not sure of size, similar to the 6a, in brown craw color. Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 Bomber makes excellent baits. I haven't tried the baits you listed, but I've been fishing Bombers since I was a kid. I still do. I wouldn't do it if they hadn't proven to be excellent baits. Quote
Danny1991 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've used all of those except the Shad Jr. and all have caught me fish! I believe my favorite is the Fat Free Guppy, in citrus or chartreuse/blue. It kills em! Quote
drmnbig Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I hate to break in on this thread but I've got a question. I've got a Bomber Fat Free shad that is dark blue on top that quickly fades to white on the sides and bottom. This is the best catching crankbait I've ever owned and I'm worried about losing it since I can't find the color again. Any idea on the color and where to find it? Quote

Take a pic of it and have one custom painted if all else fails and you lose it Quote
shootermcbob Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have a few bombers. I have had the best results with the fat free guppy in citruse color. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I know this doesn't directly answer your question but the Bomber Square A is my favorite shallow cranks. Comes through cover pretty well. And they are fairly inexpensive too, just in case they don't come through the cover.... FD Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 If you happen to get one with Bill Dance's signature on it make sure you white it out. If the fish see it, they won't bite! ;D Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 Walmart in the DFW areas and surround parts of Texas all report clearance sales going on Bomber cranks. I have always loved the Fat free Shads, guppy's and fingerlings in the suspending models. Got another 50 bucks worth at two stores yesterday. Got some Gammie hooks half price. Good deals on other baits as well. Lavendar shad has been working lately, Tenn shad is my summer go to color, hard to find, they went to Root beer a few years back. And the citrus shad is working right now as well. Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I fish the Fat Free Jr. the most, it catches a lot of bass for me and is my go to crankbait. When in clear water rock flats fishing for Smallmouth I like the Fat Free Fingerling. You did not list the other Bombers like the 3A, 4A, and 5A and these are excellent baits too. Almost indestructible, run great right out of the box, and catch a lot of fish. Quote
