Guys I just want to thank you for giving something to look forward to everyday while I was deployed here in Iraq. I have been paroled and start my journey home. I wanted to thank you guys for keeping me sane by talking about something I love to do.  It will take me a few days to get home, and I wont be able to read this for a few days. Im really looking forward to getting home to see the family, but mostly to kick some bass!!

Thanks again guys

nb1226,

Thank you for your dedication and sacrifices to this great nation!  Without you guys (and gals) we would not get to enjoy all these freedoms.  Glad you are finally coming home!!  I hope you catch a new PB shortly after arrival.

We are the honored ones here on the forum and in this country to have men such as you, willing to serve during such hard times as we find ourselves. May such spirit and understanding spread throughout the whole nation. The nation owes you a dept that can never be repaid. As a fellow veteran from times long past I salute you and Welcome Home.

As stated previously, the thanks go to our servicepeople like you to keep things in order. I might have a good idea for those of us who do have boats.  Is there any way that we can contact the USO or someone else to let anyone coming back home know that there is a fishing trip on hold for those who are back from a tour??  I know that after a hard few days at work, a day on the lake brings back a heap of sanity to my brain, can't imagine what it could do to a person who has been in the desert for months!!  Me and my boat would be at their disposal on my day off!!  I will research this further and get back to y'all!!!

couple of pieces of advice

1. if your married remember she has been a single parent for a year... there WILL be an adjustment period.

2.  Stuff is going to "bug you" for a long time for me its driving thru big cities and the "tornado sirens", they are exactly the same sound of the siren they used to warn us of incomming, and the 4th of July will never be fun again... just be aware... don't make a big deal of it... I just always make sure I mentally prepare myself when I have to drive to Milwaukee or when I know there is going to be fireworks, and I am ALWAYS indoors on Sat at noon when they test the sirens..

3. CONTINUE TO WORK OUT... you will gain weight hahahhaaha when I first got back everyone wanted to fatten me up since I "lost so much weigh" hahaha I just got INTO shape and they wanted me to get out of shape... and the home cooking.. MMMMMMMMM man... fat fat fat.. but good good good...

4.  If you feel like you need to talk to someone TALK TO SOMEONE... it takes a bigger man to admit that he isn't handling being back in the world than one that holds it all in and beats the crap out of a spouse or worse :(     you have to take care of yourself...

5.  DON'T let the boat monkey anywhere near you... with all that pay you have saved up he is going to be screaching at the top of his lungs...

6. ENJOY THE FISHING... it was the ticket for me getting my head back on straight...

welcome back
