huskertko Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I just had the most concrete evidence of the existence of the baitmonkey. I left work to go to lunch and get something to eat, then a thought crossed my mind that I needed to go to Dick's Sporting Goods, so I went. I pulled into a parking space and started to get out of the car and realized, I had no idea why I was there and what I had come to buy. I seriously sat there thinking why in the world am I here. I went in and bought some split rings and 3oz sinkers to make some lure retrievers for crankbaits, but it was a very surreal experience go there and then realizing that I had no purpose for being there :-? Just thought I share, the baitmonkey is experimenting with out of body experiences, so BEWARE. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 19, 2006 Super User Posted May 19, 2006 It didn 't turn out so bad, last time the BaitMonkey took control of me was when I purchased a 3 gal gas tank, the last thing I remember was picking up the tank, then I realized I was at the cashier with a Calais 100 reel, several packs of senkos and kuttails, my credit card in my hand and a big grin on my face. :-? huskertko Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 I think the only thing that really save me was the fact it was at Dick's sporting goods, I really don't like the selection or anything about that place for buying tackle or equipment. Now if it would have been Cabela's, then it would have been really ugly, being that it is pay day and all. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 19, 2006 Super User Posted May 19, 2006 Drop on your knees and thank the Lord they don 't have much........BPS or Cabela 's, that would have been a slaughter.........your slaughter. It just gives me the creeps to even think about that with a fat check in your pocket, yikes !. ;D Quote
paparock Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I just sold my Penn Internatioanal. Oh is that the bait monkey I here calling? Quote
Rob G. Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 The monkey is not a bad thing unless you get caught spanking it. Quote
Cephkiller Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 A good antidote to the bait monkey is to have more kids. The bait monkey doesn't have a chance against the diaper monkey! Quote
hookset Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 F.Y.I The bait monkey would never make you buy items to make a lure retriever out of, that is against everything he stands for. If you hang up a crank just break it off and buy a new one, even if you did pay 20 bucks for it. See that is the work of the bait monkey. Quote
Madhouse27 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 Husker I think you're on to something with your Dick's Sporting Goods theory. I agree that the place is just so mediocre that the bait monkey really can't get his groove on in there. Had you pulled into the parking lot of BPS or Cabelas I think you would be giving a very different report. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 20, 2006 Super User Posted May 20, 2006 A good antidote to the bait monkey is to have more kids. The bait monkey doesn't have a chance against the diaper monkey! If you want to believe so...... : My kid is three and a half years old, he 's been a BaitMonkey victim since he was two, I don 't see how having more kids is going to help, on the contrary, imagine yourself with three or four kids with baitmonkeyitis........it ain 't a prutty thought. The BaitMonkey is not against you purchasing or making a lure retriever, not carrying a lure retriever is just plain dumb and a complete lack of financial resource management. On the contrary, the BaitMonkey strongly suggests that you should carry a lure retriever, no lost lures means money saved, saved money that can be used to purchase more stuff. Quote
