airborne_angler Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Went to a local lake and this one should be a no brainer. Was using 30lb Spider wire and wanted to change lures. Didnt have anything to cut the line with. So I had to become prehistoric and rub the line against a rock till friction wore through. Then when I tied on a new lure I had this tag end to deal with. Well needless to say without having a cutting device the tag end stayed and was irritating. Probably a good cutter for braided line would be a pair of cheap childrens FISKAR scissors(as stated in the Power Pro braided line packaging). Just keep this little pointer in mind as I lived it and will do my best to put a pair of those scissors in my tackle box. Quote

AL That's a good way to put it!!! ;D With the fingernail clippers I have used in the past, you would have a better chance using fishinaz's way with a good sharp rock. Quote
SA_Mountaineer Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I keep a pair of fingernail clippers with me, and there is a wire-cutter thing on my needle nose pliers Quote

MadGator Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I keep a smaller Leatherman (Juice S2) in my pocket at all times. The only time I don't have it is in bed and on a plane. Best x-mas present ever (thank you wifey). It has a scissors, knife, and pliers, all essential tools while fishing. I've even had to bust out the screw drivers on occasion. Oh it never hurts to have a bottle opener handy . Seriously, BEST PRESENT EVER!!!!! Quote
FlyRod Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 These work well too, 'cept I always singe my thumb and forefinger protecting the knot when I burn off the tag end. http://www.imagedesignersinc.com/images/bic_litr.jpg Rod, F. Quote
Tom Bass Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I always keep a little Victorinox Swiss Army knife in my pocket and one in my tackle box. It's the one that sells for $8 in most stores and has the little scissors. They work great for most lines and are adequate for braid lines. Here it is: http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Product.htm?category=everyday&product=53005& Quote
