Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I was wondering if there are any other folks out there that take video footage of their fishing trips? HawHunter and I started last year and have put some quality memories on film already. Anyway, I was wondering if other BassResourcers have any video footage. I would like to make a compilation of BassResource.com-ers doing their thing and wanted to know if anyone had personal footage they would like to send me a copy of to add to the video. Anyone? Quote
EnigmaX Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I haven't done so yet, but I've been thinking about it. After watching a few of your videos I have the "editing bug" lol. Quote
grove83 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I like the idea of a BassResource.com compilation. Gotta get some footage after I find the fish....and the camera. LOL Maybe when EnigmaX and I finally hit the lakes we can get some "good" footage. HAHAHA Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 Hints: -have the camera convieniently placed in boat for both anglers to get at quickly. -both have understanding of features that will be used and how to set it in case it gets altered (power, zoom, slection switch-vid/still,etc) -REMEMBER to use it -any video is good video, throw away what you don't want but film everything!! For example if you always wait for your partner to let you know if it's "big enough" to warrent filming, you'll never make a good video.(unless you catch a ton of hawgs!) Plus, alot of the "fill" is the good stuff. You often catch a joke or a blunder or a blooper when you film all the fish you can. -trips to the lake, the car ride, launching boat, going 70mph on the water,.... all good fill Quote
Bassbum80 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 We are going to start bringing the video camera with from now on. We were going to this trip but it was a new camera and my bro was a bit worried about it. Needless to say he was fighting a fish and walking on the fron deck of the boat when he stepped on the cooler & the lid slid out from under him sending him flat on his back while he was yelling to grab the fish. It was a nice 4 pounder. Would have been classic to have on film. Oh well...live & learn. Quote
EnigmaX Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Grove, I will definatly be bringing a camera along! Right now I only have a digi cam with a 1/2 gig stick that will record videos. I'm gonna have to buy a camcorder though! On a side note, if anyone needs an video edited, I'm always more then welcome to help out. P.S. I also co-run a webhosting company, if anyone needs hosting space for video's, etc, let me know. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 Enig- I'm working off a digi cam with 2 cards, a 128 and a 64!! Doesn't take much. Darrin (HawgHunter) bought a digital camcorder before we went to Fork and man that thing is sweet but I also take a ton of stills so I still use this set-up. Works so far. I just want to get a polarized filter ($35ish) and a 1 gig card. Quote
langs15 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Maybe I will start videotaping, hard part is I am a 1 person team most the time, and when I have a friend in my little electric boat, make fun of me if I video tape it. Quote
Tiki Stik Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I have done a little bit of this with my Sony digicam with a 1 gig card. The only problem is... a 2 minute clip is like 60 megs!!!!!!! How can you convert that so it isn't so darn huge? Then, how can I get this clip to you (email)? Or do you recommend I spend $400+ on a digital camcorder? YIKES Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 26, 2006 Author Posted April 26, 2006 You can convert the raw files by downloading some free software. or you can load it in moviemaker and when you save it, it will be in .wmv format. Quote
Redtail Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Russ You gotta show me how to do that when you come down! The boss asked me if I would take a half day today and take him fishing. I guess if he forces me too! I'm going Sat & Sun too. Still haven't seen a bed yet and the water is still around 60. As soon as the bite is on, I'll be calling you! Is the Dirkster still singing Suprano or has he fully recovered? LOL Talk to ya soon! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Sounds good Bill. Dirk is going back under the knife today, found a mass on one of "the boys" and they want him back immediately. (this was just last night) Hopefully all is well. Quote

fishingfrenzy Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Yea, I mainly fish by my self. I would like to start making some videos of outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, snowboarding, and just other things. I was looking at a samsung handsfree camcorder. It is a little pricey($500), but thats when ebay comes in handy. Hopefully I can get videos by the end of the year, I'm in no hurry. The website for the camcorder is http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/campaign/06/sportscam/sportscam.jsp I'm not sure if this is a good investment, but I got some spare cash laying around. Quote

fishingfrenzy Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Wow, that was a big fish in that video. That guy got a little pumped after catching it. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 That's Butch Brown, a Californian celeb. His videos were the first ones that got me thinking..... Quote
Kana Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 i just got hooked up with a new fishing partner, maybe i can con him into doing a shoot, and then you would have youre first sub-titled fishing clip! i have a sony that records DV and on to a memory stick. just have to find the softwqater for editing from sony (that doesnt cost an arm and a leg, i need em both to fish!). Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 My dad does not like to fish but he likes to ride in my boat and sip on some "daddy yoohoo". Every time we go he brings his video camera. I dont know why, but i have never caught a fish when i bring him on my boat (about 10 times). So I dont have any footage of catching a fish... yet. Quote
