Size or numbers?

When yall go fishing what do yall search for in bass fishing, numbers or size?

I have to say it would be numbers.  The main reason I say this is because it will help me get more cofidence in the lure that I need help with.  For example, I'm am struggling with crank baits.  I'm no where close to being satisified with my approach to spinner baits either.  On the other hand, I consider myself an expert with jigs and plastic baits. That is why I go after numbers and not size.  I believe sooner or later size will overcome numbers but as for now its numbers hands down.

I go for numbers over 15". Most length limits in tournaments I have fished are 15" so thats what I shoot for.

Usually size, but it's always nice to go for numbers, good feeling with a lot of bass!

When I fish, I go for size over numbers.  Who cares if you catch 10 dinks, but if one catches a bass that is over 5 lbs, in my opinion the 5 pounder proves that that fisherman is better.  If one can consistently catch bass 5, 6, or 7 pounds, then they would be able to catch numbers any day.  Just my $.02

Definetly size, in fact I loose intrest with dinks.  I would rather catch one or two of substantial size then 25+ smaller fish and will make changes with what I am useing or locations when there is a definite pattern forming.   Ironicly, I fish alot with somebody that loves numbers, although sometimes it's tough due to the difference in styles, we make due and still have blast.

Both. It all depends on where and how I'm planning on fishing. If I know a body of water has 10+ pound bass in it...I usually target those fish by throwing nothing but big baits, mainly swimbaits unless I hear they are biting something else. I don't want 2 pounders out of a lake that holds 10 to 20 pound bass. But if a lake has nothing but dinks I go for numbers.

I will agree with you that nothing builds confidence more than catching a boat load of bass with a new technique or lure.

It depends on what my past trips have been like. If I have been skunked a couple of times, I will go after dinks and catch numbers. When I feel good about the amount I have caught then I will go after size.

I'm the complete opposite of a tournament fisherman. I'll pass up a good bite if it's the wrong bite.

I'm looking for that 1 fish. She usually doesn't hang with the masses.

i tend to go for numbers, but lately its been more about catching that one huge bass that you know is there.

the fight of that one bass that could be your new PB out weights the number of bass you may have caught...

I'm after two kinds of fish:  Big ole good'uns and good ole big'uns.

Size only for me, always.

Generally speaking, I prefer targeting bigger fish in deeper water. I like the challenge of finding and catching big bass. I have also had some great times catching a lot smaller fish, esp. when I'm with someone new to fishing. I agree with Captain Cali, (what a great alias BTW-it suits you as a champion of west coast bass fishing) catching a lot of fish on a new lure or technique is a good time. Knowing it catches fish gives me confidence to use it in spots were it has a better chance of catching big fish.

;D Thanks! LBH dubbed me "Captain Cali". I don't know about being dubbed " a champion of west coast bass fishing" just quite yet though. I'm flattered by the comment but there is a long way to go for that. There are a lot of great anglers out here with a lot more experience than me. They have earned that title. Maybe when I have a few years of experience under my belt, I'll give 'em a run for their money!  

BTW, I would much rather catch big bass over small bass. One 5+ pounder gives me more satisfaction than ten 2 pounders. I can't imagine the feeling of a double digit. At this point I go after both numbers and size to gain experience.

I prefer to catch lots of big bass .  I would take one big fish over a bunch of peanuts anyday of the week.  That being said, I by no means have the paitence to sit weeks with out catching a fish like those true "trophy hunters" do.

In order to find where the big ones are you may catch smaller ones that will tell you were they are not. I am always in search of bigger fish.

If you you would have asked this question 6 months ago I would have said size..I am in such a slump now I will take anything that gets on the hook.. :-/

Numbers of quality 2-3 lbers. and after I catch a limit I don't care about numbers, I want giants.

I usually like to go out and get on the board first. It kind of gets me in the zone and works the kinks out of my gear and shakes off the work week rust. Then I start fishing deeper water targeting bigger bass. Sometimes I will go to an area I know is infested with smaller fish if I am working on a new technique.

Tournament day: Numbers until I have a limit,then switch gears and go deep for the bigger bite.

Non tournament day: Size mainly but if the big'uns aint hungry,I'll settle for numbers.As long as I'm getting bit......thats the main thing.
