zbass Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 All Terrain gets my nod! They have several different models to suit your needs. Quote
tyrius. Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I don't have the EVO2, but the Evolution jigsand jig heads I have don't hang anymore than other jigs I fish. I find them to be topnotch and I highly recommend them. My experience is the same. I have not found them to hang up in the rocky areas I fish anymore than any other jig that I've used. I bought a bunch of evo jigs when Dick's had them on clearence. I also like terminator's jigs and GMAN's jigs. Quote
amesl Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 The new design of the Evolution Evo2 jigs are awesome. The skid plate isn't as wide as the 1st series and they actually stand up much better. The finesse models are hit especially this time of year Not arguing that. But what good is a stand-up jig if it can't get to the bottom without getting hung up? They really don't. The new design is much better as far as fishing cover and the Weed guard has been stepped up as well (Stronger) Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 You need to take a look at what conditions you are fishing. Rocks, timber, brush, weeds, etc. After that look for jigs that will work the best in those situations. A football head works best in deep water around rocky ledges. For shallow rip-rap and wood an arkie style head with help you from getting hung up. In weeds a pointed head jig with the line tie in the tip will come through the weeds better. The brands are simply personal choices and by all means support forum sponsors, just get the right jig to do the right job. Quote
Castamasta Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 hey i just buy my own football head jigs (chompers) and get get starflash skirts to go with them. i never buy premade jigs.................................but been wanting to try this evo2 jig out. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted January 1, 2009 Super User Posted January 1, 2009 give me a good old arkie jig ,,the main thing about a jig is that it has to have a perfect hook SHARP and strong .i did go and buy a few EVO jigs at dicks on sale them jigs are pretty cool never used um before Quote
flippin Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I always make my own jigs so i get what i want Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 2, 2009 Super User Posted January 2, 2009 I use mostly Strike King jigs. Quote

mackkie Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Which craw trailers do you guys like to use? Gman, what type of jig/trailer is that on your picture? Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 My opinions on trailers Gene Larew Salty Hawg Craws 4, 5, & 6" Zoom Swimmin' Chunk & Salty Pro Chunks in sapphire blue Uncle Josh #11A Original Chunk & #23 Kicker Frog in blue Rage Tail Lobster in colors to match jigs Quote
The_Natural Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I make my own using the best head/hook I can find. Footballs I use Picasso, All Terrain Tackle, and RT with my own skirts. Picasso heads have the most detail....each head is airbrushed. Gammy hooks are also something I prefer....they are twice as expensive as Mustads, but worth it IMHO. Quote
mackkie Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 GMAN, what's the setup in your picture on here? I'm sure it's a gman jig, but which type, and what kind of trailer? Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 GMAN, what's the setup in your picture on here? I'm sure it's a gman jig, but which type, and what kind of trailer? Its a finesse jigs with a zoom craw. Cool huh! Fish catching machine. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 Check out GMAN jigs by accessing the www button in his signature. I highly recommend his jigs! 8-) Quote
Super User grimlin Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 Check out GMAN jigs by accessing the www button in his signature.I highly recommend his jigs! 8-) X2...it's all i pretty much use now. Plus with his jigs you lose one or two you won't be cussing as much as losing one of those expensive jigs. I'm a believer in "if your jigs ain't getting snagged you ain't fishing the right stuff". ;D Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 6, 2009 Super User Posted January 6, 2009 All Terrain gets my nod! They have several different models to suit your needs. I'm a big fan of their finesse jigs. I caught more bass last spring on these jigs than any other. I have been wanting to try their grass jigs for some time. Quote
James Williams Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I would start out by buying a couple from as many name brands that you can afford. try them and then find out which one best works for you. Asking for someone else pick is going to get you personal preference not what you need. 8-) Quote

Asking for someone else pick is going to get you personal preference not what you need. 8-) Pick a guy or two that has posted on this thread that you feel like you know or trust. There are just too many commercial brands and private pours to truely pick a "best" jig. My main criteria are: 1. Sharp, strong hooks from an established company with a solid reputation; 2. "Stand-up" jig head, identical to a naked shakey head. As I posted earlier on this thread, I fish GMAN, Micro Munch Tackle and Evolution jigs. However, the trailer may be more important than the jig. With all of that, location and the way a jig is presented trump everything else! 8-) Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 Try the 'Knuckle Dragger' (football) or the 'Knuckle Buster' (flippin') or the 'Knuckle Head' (round) from Knuckle Down Lures. Quote
Shadcranker Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Finesse- SK Bitsy Bug and Jewell Eakins Flippin- Phenix (rubber), Pepper, and Oldhams Football- Picasso, Omega, and PJ's Shallow Bank Grass swimming - Lunker Lure Rattle Back Jig Quote
