PUStinkbait Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Someone please help me! This time of year I can not catch a fish for nothing! I have tried every method from deadsticking to using every lure in my tacklebox. The weather here is getting warmning up quite a bit but the water is taking a while to warm up. I know it is prespawning time and I really want to catch some fish before my timeframe of fishing time is up. Any Suggestions? Quote
Curado Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Try fishing some flats and points outside of spawning coves with a lipless crankbait, spinnerbait, suspending jerkbait, or C-rig. Quote
Super User flechero Posted March 11, 2006 Super User Posted March 11, 2006 Try going to where they will spawn... from there back straight out to the first good drop. If that fails, go to the second drop. Try t-rig or c-rig lizards. If that fails, try a red spinnerbait or red rattletrap along the outside edge of grass. If you still have no luck, buy some beer and get tan trying. ...lol Quote
Chris Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 what temps are you talking and give a general idea of what the water has to offer. Quote
Guest avid Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 When nothing else is working I go to a 5" inch senko. I t-rig it with no weight and toss it right into the weeds in shallow cuts on the bank. Sometimes I swim it a little. Sometimes I let it sit a little before moving it. This rarely fails. There are usually at least SOME fish in the shallows. A juicy senko is too hard to pass up. Quote
Whopper Stopper Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I have caught all of my bass this year on a 3" crawdad. I have tried other baits and haven't had any luck. Just cast it out and slowly inch it on the bottom. Quote
uiubassmaster Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Well first of all, I don't know exactly where you live, therefor, I don't know the structure of your local lake/river. I would concentrate on sandy areas and shallows where the water starts to warm up at a faster rate than the main body of water. Another suggestion is to fish SLOW, when the water is cold, and the fish are lathargic, a slow presentation can be your best bet, especially when the water starts to warm up at a slow pace. I guess I can't tell you exactly what to do because I don't know what type of water you're fishing, but try to look for vegitation that is starting to green up, putting oxygen into the water. Fish jigs with a pork-rind or plastic trailer or even plastics (worms, tubes, lizards). Another option would be to use scent, and don't be afraid to add too much either. :)Good Luck Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Tie on a spinnerbait and cover as much water as you possibly can.It may be hard going, but eventually you'll find 'em.It just takes patience and a lot of elbow grease. Quote
Vyron Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I would start with spinnerbaits and rat-l-traps Then i ll slow down 2 senko or t-rig lizard/worm If this doesnt work ,throw a dynamite inside ;D Quote
