I know I must have some nerve making my 7th post on this board be a request for an addition to the site....but here goes.

As a newbie I would love if there was a product reviews section... I'm sure the vets would get some use out of it as well.  (I know there is a section labeled "reviews" but it's not exactly what I mean.)

As I'm picturing it, there would be an area on the site that would have breakdowns of equipment; lures, rods, reels, boating accessories...etc.

Once you click on Lures it would be subdivided into Crank Baits, Swim Baits, Spinners, Top Water, Soft Plastics, etc...  If I tried a crank bait I would go enter it to the Crank Bait section.  There would be room for name of bait, image, color used, size used, price paid, store where purchased...then a rating scale for various attributes: action, ease of use, overall rating...and a section for free writing, how to use it, best conditions to use it in, tips, etc.  Once a lure/item is entered into it's proper section someone else can come along and add a review.  There would be an "overall" review at the top (a la amazon.com), then you'd be able to see the individual reviews.  Obviously the specifices still need to be flushed out a bit, but I hope you see what I mean.

I see so many posts asking people to recommend a crank bait, etc...I think this would help.

Thanks for reading and for helping to make this a new favorite site!!

Thanks for not shunning me!

This does work...and I did this when I purchased a new rod/reel a few weeks ago, but having reviews all in one section might make browsing that much easier. I might know that I want a crank bait. If reviews are all in one spot I might be able to say, "whoa, this bait is consistently getting 5 stars... I should check this out."

I frequent a car detailing message board that has a great review system. If you want to see what I'm talking about click the link below -

http://autopia.org/reviews/

You'll see a list various detailing product groups. If you click on "Car Wash Shampoos", you'll be taken to a summary list of "all" the shampoos on the market. Click on "NXT Generation Car Wash" and you'll see an overview "stars" rating system, which is an average of everyone who has reviewed this product and you'll see an average "Stars" rating system for every other product in this group...to see how it compares to the average. You'll see an image and a brief product description (which I think is just the manufacturer's description), then you can scroll down to see all the individual reviews. I think it's a pretty slick system.

I reckon it would be a bear to set up at first, and it would take a bit of work at first for everyone on the board to go in and enter reviews. But a few weeks after launching it would be pretty robust. Then each time you try a new lure you can just go in and add a review.

thanks for listening!!!

Actually I too think it's a great idea.  I just feel bad about making suggestions to improve the site so soon after a major overhaul.

My only concern might be that an actual rating system sometimes cuts down on the discussion aspect of the board. Now I know RW is going to give the Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft line 5 stars, but I've learned alot more about it by reading the reasoning behind his opinion. If the post was just his rating I'm not sure I'd get as much out of it. I like the idea of a separate quick refrence product review section, just not at the expense of our awesome tackle talk area.

I agree whole heartedly, and I don't think it would.  On that car detailing website I linked to there are still a ridiculous number of discussions/debates about which polish works the best, leaves the best finish, etc.  I think the same would happen here.

Not to overstep my bounds, but the system that the other forum uses to rate is -

http://www.censura.info/

Now I have no clue what it takes to run this website (I can't imagine it's easy), or implement such a feature, but should bassresource.com decide to go ahead and purchase something to help with the ratings (I think the product above is $135), I'd be more than willing to help out with a small donation.  I only have a few posts, but I've been learning from this site for over a year.

Thanks!
