ball_coach_1 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 My goodness...it is killing me! I have full fledged cabin fever, and right now there is not a thing I can do about it. The past two weeks here in gorgeous NE Ohio (I GOTTA get back south) have been the coldest of the winter. Me and Cedar1 have a tourney April 9th, and I am fearing at the time we are going to be vertical jigging throught a small hole for bites. Any other poor good ol' boys stuck too far north that are about to pull there fingernails out (and if she isn't lucky, my wife's too) in about the next any minute??? Amen? By the way, you don't have to be a good ol' boy to say 'Amen'. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 The Oscar in my tank has sore lips My cat is addicted to "the flippin' game" The monkey has too much pull right now. I'm with ya coach! Quote

Panamoka_Bassin Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 A big ole AMEN to that! I just got back from a ski trip to Squaw Valley (Lake Tahoe) where it was 50 degrees almost every day! When the snow turned to mashed potatoes every afternoon, I'd look at the lake and say to myself, "Dang, I shoulda brought my fishing rod." And now they're calling for snow here on Long Island...HURRY UP AND GET WARM ALREADY!!! Quote

FORTUNATELY THE BPS CLASSIC IS THIS WEEKEND. MAYBE THEY WILL LET ME FISH IN THE AQUARIUM. (I'VE HAD MY EYE ON THOSE BIG SMALLMOUTH FOR WEEKS NOW) Quote

Madhouse27 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Its about ten degrees today up here in Maine. I'm suffering right along with the rest of the northern crew. This forum is helping to take the edge off but I'm dying to wet a line. Some people are starting to avoid me because all I want to talk about is the upcoming fishing season. Here's an AMEN! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Well, I guess I will let you know how I to this evening. I will be in the boat on the lake in exactly 30 minutes. Rods and Reels and tackle in the truck packed this morning. Quote
Minuteman Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 The worst thing is that we had a very warm Winter(in PA) up until mid February and I was able to get out a few times. Now the daylight is lasting longer, but it's getting colder. I just started getting Cabin Fever bad this week working on my Jeep in the snow and freezing temps. Major Winter storm for Thursday!! Blah...and they are stocking trout in the local streams. Luckily I have some native trout streams within 1 mile that you can fish all year. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 im only about 12 hours from southern cali but up until last week it was never higher than 20 degrees with lots of snow Quote
FALCON Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 BD, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND,MY CANAL AND THE CANAL WHERE THE BOAT LAUNCH ARE FROZEN. MY 25' BAJA CENTER CONSOLE IS A LITTLE TOO HEAVY TO CARRY TO THE LAKE. IN THE SPRING THERE MANY DAYS I FISH IN MY SNOWMOBILE SUIT.....IT ISN'T THE COLD IT'S THE ICE. Quote
Muddpuppy Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Here, I'm told the fish are starting to bed, we have finally have gotten enough rain to help fill back up the lakes, upper 70's and 80's the last couple of days and I have a broken ankle and have to stay off of it. Quote
ball_coach_1 Posted March 2, 2006 Author Posted March 2, 2006 Mudpuppy, my man, sorry...no sympathy. Bass boats have SEATS. But, it is good to see all of these replies to this post....because as you know, misery loves company. Quote
Blaze Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I couldn't take it anymore, yesterday it got up to 55 finally in indiana so i went out and landed one on a sweet beaver, after 3hrs of fishing. Water was still pretty cold. Quote
paparock Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Living back in my native south I am only mildly bothered by cabin fever. Now the ten years I lived in Wyoming where in the winter you can drive motor homes on the lakes gave real meaning to cabin fever. Wyoming natives say there is only two seasons(winter & road construction). It seems you can' fix the roads when the ground is frozen rock solid. I was in Casper, Wyoming. To give a little perspective Casper averages a daily 10 miles per hour higher winds than Chicago. Match that with temps as low as 40 below zero (even the sewers start freezing 6 feet below ground) and you have CABIN FEVER! So each time I start feeling a little frustrated during winter here in north Arkansas I just start thinking of all those fond winter nights near a blast furnace trying to stay warm to start feeling all warm and happy. Then 30 degrees seems like shirt sleeve weather. Now I know some of our northern brethren know what I am talking about. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Well it's snowin again (5in) and another cold snap so the lakes are freezin over again and Spring is just around the corner Well maybe we will have ice out for the fourth of July ;D Quote
MyKeyBe Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 A BIG AMEN from Me. Ice sucks. My cat is addicted to "the flippin' game" LBH, Lucky b-tard, I have 3.5 cats that are addicted to "The all new pitching game" and a dog that is mad as heck that she is the "moving pitching target". The other 1.5 cats got hit with a 3/8 hookless jig and are not real sure if they like "The all new pitching game" or not. ;D Quote
SneakySnook Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I had cabin fever one day that it rain 12" besides that not much cabin fever in Florida. I've been fishing 3-5 day a week. It was 80 degrees here yesterday but we have a cold front coming in that will make it 73 tomorrow. ;D I guess not much of a cold front for all of you who live up north. I bet some of you guys can't wait for global warming. Hope it gets better up there for you guys. Don't worry come June I'll be wishing I was living up north once the hurricane season starts. Quote
