Javelin_Venom Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I have the option of fishing one day this week (wife is restricting me) :'( But since I haven't fished since fall, I'll take whatever day I can get. My options are, Tuesday, the second day in a row of warm weather and mostly sunny or I could fish Wednesday, the third day straight of warm weather, but slight chance of showers and probably over-cast. This warm-weather will be the first spring-like temps. for my area so far this year other than 1 or two days here and there. I don't know if I want to go Tuesday when it's going to sunny and maybe warming the water up faster or if I want to give it the extra warm day and go on the warmest day of the week, which would be Wednesday, but probably cloudy. What would you do? Quote
Ranger 482 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 It has been my experience that in the early spring the sun is your friend. I would fish the sunny day. Probably your best fishing will be in the late afternoon. Good luck and bass wishes. Quote
abelfisher Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Quote I have the option of fishing one day this week (wife is restricting me) :' What would you do? I would go fishing when I wanted, and tell my wife, "I'll be back, when I get back.....if I come back" Then I would go fishing, come home after dark the first night,, drive by the house to see if my clothes were scattered about the front yard. If not, go home and act like nothing happened. ....But that's just me! Quote

That was exactly my first thought, but after reconsidering, this crossed my mind: I love to get to do 2 things in my life... 1.) bass fish 2.) i have to keep the wife happy for the other Quote
CJ Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Hey I understand the wife thing.I go though it alot. The better day to fish would be hard to predict, but you may consider what style you prefer to fish.Which weather matches the pattern you want to try.I like to crank the chunk rocks and sunny days seem to work better for that pattern. Cajun1977 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 why not fish tuesday and wednesday so you can tell her youve tried both days and now you can make a decision on which one to choose for next week Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted February 26, 2006 Super User Posted February 26, 2006 aren't women a pain? ;D Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I agree with the sun being your friend in the spring but that's what would encourage me to fish the 2nd day of warming, wednesday. Also, the overcast may not bring them as shallow but will put them in more of a biting mood. JMO Good luck I just read in the Sunday paper,....divorces-$49.99 Quote
FlyRod Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Here's a thought... Why not hand her 2 day's worth of the monthly boat, truck and insurance payments, the cost of the gas to, on, and from the lake, plus some flowers, then ASK if you can fish both days. Explain that you'll spend the coming weekend doing anything (with her) she wishes, including sitting through a chick flick, BBQ-ing(and cleaning up after,) and any two "honey-dos" she's been riding you about. That other activity you mentioned might just be on her list (if you're lucky.) Just suggestin', F.Rod Quote
Shaun Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Sounds like some pretty good suggestions. The wives have to be pretty understanding when it comes to fishing. My wife is due in 6 weeks and Im leaving for Okeechobee for 3 days on Tuesday. Her comment to me was have a good time and if I go into labor Ill call you. ;D Have to divide the time up pretty evenly, go fishing once or twice a week and take them out once a month. Not even, but enough to satisfy them. Set it! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 shaun, you got a keeper! Good luck with your coming bundle! Quote
davo3901 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I went fishing the day before my wife was going to be induced for labor. And just this morning she came in and asked me who was leading the Classic. I asked her if it mattered if I told her the guys name but she kept asking questions. Cool. Quote
Guest avid Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Definitly go on Tuesday. Wednesday is a day later and alot can happen. Never put off fishing, not even for a day. Quote
Guest bigtex Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I would have to say Wednesday. Warmest day with a slight overcast.....lots of stikes on this day. Quote
Shaun Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Thanks...it's a girl. She'll learn how to fish, that way I can convince the wife to get a boat instead of using my brothers! Quote
Lightninrod Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 JV: Not sure where you are but your weather forecast sounds the same as mine. I'd go with the ones that said "Tuesday" because, as Avid said, you never know whether the next day will show up . Think that's what I'll do too. Dan Quote
directlink Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Why not fish the sunrise/morning on tuesday, and afternoon/sunset on wednesday, or vice versa. :-? But seriously, I would pick the overcast day, just because I love fishing that kind of weather. Quote
Minuteman Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Never put off till Wednsday, what you can do Tuesday. That is only if it's something fun though! Quote
SneakySnook Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I would go Tuesday if I was you. Glad I don't have your problem. I get to fish 3-5 days a week. My fiance is a little more understanding. But I take her out at least once a month. She's happy and I get to fish. When I don't get to fish I get crabby and then she tells me maybe you should go fish so you can relax. So fish I will go. Lucky for me, I'm more stubborn than a jackass and remind her when needed that she was warned many times, and it wasn't a problem before we said I do... Works most times, other times, I just go fish and she gets over it the next day. Quote
Hawgin Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Javelin- I was in your position this weekend, and I found a good work around. I went out Saturday, and after about 2 hours I figured out the bite was just going to be to tough, so I went back home and worked my tail off painting a room my wife wanted finished and then took her out for dinner. In turn she gave me the thumbs up to go back out this afternoon, and I had a good time catching fish. So my advice is to go on Tuesday, and if after a few hours things aren't going well, go home and get some of those "honey-dos" done, and she will probably consider letting you go back out the next day. If the fish are biting on Tuesday, stay out and enjoy your day. Quote
BD Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I would pick the day it might rain. Overcast and a day later as far as the warming goes. Plus if the front moves in, the b. pressure might drop to a good number. Quote
