I picked up a rare book, or what seemed to be rare, yesterday. The title is Book Of The Black Bass. It was written in 1881 by Dr. J.A. Henshall. It contains information on scientific and life history, tools, tackle and implements. I read that this 463 page book is the rarest of all fishing chronicles. Bass Anglers Sportsman Society of America, Inc. has reproduced this chronicle to its original form. Nothing was deleted or added to the original text.

I know the book that I have is not rare but the information that it contains is. I don't believe you will find a book or information like this one.

Has anybody heard of this book? Do I have something truly special?

I'll keep yall posted on some of the information that I think is neat.

Yes, it's an old book. It's also been reprinted and available for sale for years.  It's not really worth anything unless you've got a very early edition or first edition print.

Well that just stinks.  I thought I had something very rare.  Thanks for your input.  I will see what it has to offer.

I am trying to find that book to read...where did you get it?

I got it at a garage sale.  (.50 cents).  Not a bad deal.  When I get threw with the book would you like it?  I can send it to you as soon as I finish it.  I just started reading it today.  I don't know if you can find it in a Library.  It's worth a look and if you still can't find it let me know.

B.A.S.S reprinted it about 12 years ago or so. I would guess it isn't worth anything except nostolgia. They also reprinted another but the name escapes me, a grey cover possibly Black Bass? Anyway, one has a red cover the other grey.

This old book sounds like it would be a fun read.  I think the most valuable fishing book would have to be a first edition of  Issack Waltons "The Compleat Angler"

I have been surfing the web for several years and compiling all the data I can find on bass fishing into one huge binder. It's now about eight inches thick and it's a load to pick up.  ::)

Papa, that can only be a good thing right?  ;)

We've been proven time and time again, as much as we could possibly 'know' about bass, they are without a doubt, a mysterious creature only the lord could create. :)
